This Week's Topics:

Hi Folks,
There are several items, with the first taking up a good bit of space here - so please do read through.

First: The Colorado Senior Lobby has an official position of Strongly Support for the Secure Savings bill (SB19-173). Last Thursday, the bill passed 19-16 on second reading. We are urging all of our members and supporters to send an email to each of the 19 legislators listed below thanking them for their support and encouraging them to vote "yes" again when the bill comes up on third reading Monday.

This bill does not set up any mandatory plans; rather, its purpose is “Concerning the creation of the Colorado secure savings plan board to study appropriate approaches to increase the amount of retirement savings by Colorado's private sector workers, and, in connection therewith, making an appropriation.”

And think about this if you are hesitating: How many retirees do you know who wish they had saved less money for retirement?
All Other Items:
The current bill count is 631 as of Friday.
Reminder of new rule for the LC: No Support or Strongly Support (or Oppose or Strongly Oppose) motions will be accepted unless the person making the motion has actually read the bill and can explain their position.

We’ll dive into new bills, which may include the following:
Housing Related: HB19-1322, HB19-1328, SB19-255,
Health Care Related: SB19-254, HB19-1326, SB19-242

We’ll talk about what happened last week with all these bills:
If you have questions regarding HB 1257 and 1258 (fall referendum bills regarding Revenue Retention/TABOR), please be prepared to ask them.
We will be providing status updates on several bills that have been moving along:

  • Housing Related:
  • Health Care Related:
  • Other:
NOTE: Many bills are still working their way through the process. And we here there still are many more bills yet to even be introduced. So, stay tuned.
