After 14 years of service and commitment, JA Chief Program Officer Debbie Fairholm will begin her retirement. JA wishes Debbie all the best! Finding someone to continue Debbie's great work was not easy, but after a long search, we are pleased to announce Dr. Shernette Grant, formerly Director of Innovative Programs with Broward County Public Schools, has joined the team. She will bring years of education and innovative leadership!
| |
Joining Dr. Grant are two additional dynamic new team members -- Angelina Jadulal, JA Fellows Program Manager, and Kaitlin Jones, Event Manager. Thank you for bringing your skills and talents to JA!
The Numbers Are In...The Impact is REAL! |

Broward Sheriff's Office (BSO) and JA Partner on Leadership Camp at JA World |
This is the second year BSO and JA have partnered to host an exciting day for participants of the BSO Leadership Camp. Broward Sheriff's Office held its Leadership Camp for 60 middle and high school students who visited JA World Huizenga Center at the Lillian S. Wells Pavilion for a fun day of learning about making financial and career decisions.
Thanks to Board Member Kim Sarni and friends, the Synovous team, Hunter Brockway (Boca Retirement Services), Avery Wonacott (Crystal Capital) and student volunteer Emma Rodriguez for serving as volunteers/corporate partners and for making the day AWESOME!

JA Successfully Launches First Pre-Apprenticeship Program |
There is a great need in our community to educate and recruit students to enter successful careers across industries. JA recently partnered with several companies including FB Marine, Marine Max and Mercury, to create a Marine Technician Pre-Apprenticeship Program. The 21 participants each earned five certifications - OSHA 10, Operating a Forklift, Boating Safety, CPR/First Aid and M-Tek.
South Florida’s Marine Industry is booming and needs qualified employees! These students will go on to work with these employers in their new apprenticeship programs. This program is available to youth ages 17-24 and will expand in the coming year. Special thanks to the Frederick A. DeLuca Foundation, Florida Department of Education, Broward County and Marine Industry partners for supporting the pilot program.
