REMSA Announces Board Leadership Changes in 2025

For Immediate Release – Washington, DC, November 18, 2024 - The Railway Engineering-Maintenance Suppliers Association (REMSA) announced today that two new Directors were elected to the REMSA Board of Directors at the REMSA Annual Membership Meeting, which took place earlier this month on November 6. The incoming REMSA Directors are: Bob Coakley, Sales Director, Ballast Tools Equipment, and Matt Violin, Vice President of Sales, NARSTCO.

Coakley and Violin will begin their two-year terms on the Board of Directors beginning January 1, 2025. 


Bob Coakley started in the railroad industry in 2008 and has held senior management positions with Nordco, ENSCO and Ballast Tools. His railway experience includes maintenance of way equipment and aftermarket sales and support, ultrasonic rail inspection, and advanced track inspection technologies including autonomous track geometry, machine vision/AI, and track asset and automated inspection data management. Currently Bob is the head of sales at Ballast Tools (BTI and BTE). Bob earned a B.S. in Marine Engineering from Massachusetts Maritime Academy. 


Matt Violin is currently the Vice President of Sales at NARSTCO, a leading manufacturer of steel railroad ties, turnout sets, and “e” clips. With over 18 years in the rail industry, including a strong family background in rail contracting, Matt brings deep industry knowledge and a proven track record to his role. He leads NARSTCO's sales team and key accounts, driving growth and customer satisfaction. A graduate of Lake Superior State University with a BS in Business Administration, Matt is a former Division 1 hockey player and active member of the rail industry community.

REMSA would also like to thank and acknowledge REMSA Past Chairman, Jay Gowan, Senior Vice President, North American Track, Railworks, who has served on the Board of Directors since 2011 and whose term will expire at the end of 2024. Ms. Soucie added that “Jay’s leadership and dedication to REMSA over the past 13 years has been instrumental to the association and his passion for the association and industry will be missed.”
