Ikaika Mendez - Roger

An MFA student in Hana Keaka at UH Mānoa. Originally from Kanaio, Maui, he focuses on integrating indigenous Hawaiian performance traditions—oli, hula, and mele—into Western theatre spaces.

Jack Romans - Mark

Pursuing his MFA in Theatre for Young Audiences. Performed with the MNOpera, Ordway, Children's Theatre Co and produced puppet shows Gulali Festival,Usaginingen, and Watson Fellows Conf.

Ka`enaaloha Watson - Mimi

Thrilled to be in her first UH Mānoa production. From Kapolei, O`ahu, Ka`ena is an acting BFA. You can find her on Rescue HI Surf starring as ʻOcean.’

Casey Kekoa Lauti - Angel

A freshman in the BFA Acting program at UH Mānoa. He has always loved theatre and is thrilled to be doing his first show in college. Recent Credits: Riff (West Side Story, Ohana Arts), Hermes (Hadestown, Mililani High School). 

Dean So`oalo - Benny

Blessed to learn from this RENT team. A Psych major in his final year at UH Mānoa. Credits: Beauty and the Beast (Beast), Travelling Storytellers, Avenue Q (Nicky), Lion King (Mufasa) and James and the Giant Peach (Grasshopper).

Keanu Tavita Roe - Tom Collins

A Honolulu-based music entertainer, he is grateful to be playing one of his dream roles . Credits: Tonton Julian (Once on This Island, MVT) and Ensemble/Benny U/S (In the Heights, LCC). 

Ainsley Shearer - Maureen

A 3rd year in Psych at UH Mānoa, and she is SO excited in her first musical in Hawaiʻi! Credits: Liesl (The Sound of Music, Leavenworth Summer Theater), Catherine (Pippin, Hot August Nights), and Lauren (Kinky Boots, Hot August Nights).

Daniella Addeo-Cortez - Joanne

excited for her 1st ever show her at UH Mānoa. A 1st year cinematic arts student and pre-law major. Credits: Violet in “Bright Young Things” and Bandit/Mermaid in “Chasing Fear”.

Nadia Gene Amian - Ensemble

a Psych Major. Credits: MVT’s Once Upon One Time, FPAC’s: Once on this IslandIn The Heights, The Little Mermaid; AD for MVTs Once Upon One Noddah Time (2023) & Happily Eva Afta (2024) and FPAC’s Mamma Mia (2022). 

Rori Ann Barchers - Ensemble

A freshman pursuing her BFA in theater and is overjoyed to be a part of the ensemble of RENT. She has been doing theater for as long as she can remember and is thankful for her first musical in Hawaiʻi. Credits: Therapist (4.48 Psychosis), Sally Perks (Puffs).

Edward John Bermudez - Ensemble

Pursuing a BA in Theatre at UH Mānoa and is excited to perform in RENT as his first show at UH Manoa. He started his acting journey when he was10. Credits: Xanadu Jr. (KHSMT), The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical (PACK)

Kainoa Bonsell - Ensemble

A first year student at UH Mānoa studying engineering and is thrilled to be in RENT for his first musical theater production. He would like to thank his family for all of their support, as well as Baba and the creative team for making his first year so special. 

Laniakea Rivas-Chun -Ensemble A Jr at UH Mānoa majoring in Theater. RENT is his first musical and also most importantly, first performance at UHM. Credits: March Hare (Alice in Wonderland), Sam (Ghost Party), Big Jule (Guys and Dolls). Musical Theater.

Kamalania 'Pono' Cummings - Ensemble

Thrilled to be part of RENT, his 2nd show at UH Mānoa! Credits: Once on this Island (MVT), Newsies (I’m A Bright Kid Fdn), Cymbeline (HSF), and Glitter in the Pa‘akai (UHM).

Dylan DeAsis - Ensemble

a 3rd year Theatre & Dance student at UH Mānoa. Dylan would like to thank the creative team for giving him this opportunity to be in RENT and he would especially want to thank his parents for always supporting him.

Vanessa Gould - Ensemble

Studying Theatre at UH Mānoa. Most recently she worked as the AD on What the Constitution Means To Me (MVT) and has experience working with PACK. She is grateful for this opportunity and thanks the RENT creatives.

Sara Imata - Ensemble

A Jr at UH Mānoa in Psych and is so excited for her return to the stage! Credits: High School Musical (Taylor McKessie) and RENT (Ensemble). Sara would like to thank her loved ones for always encouraging her.

Kylie Kwak - Ensemble

A Sr at UHM pursuing a B.A. in Music (voice). RENT marks her return to the stage. She is a lover of the arts and growing up doing theatre in Hawai’i. Credits: Velma Von Tussle (Hairspray, PAPA), Stepsister (Into the Woods, Keaka). 

Bryce Linsanagan - Ensemble

An actor, singer, dancer, and model. He is currently a Sr at UH Mānoa in Theatre. Credits: Film & TV; Lilo and Stitch (2025), Rescue Hi Surf. Stage; Haku Wale (Singer), and Glitter in the Pa’akai (Keoni).

Jessy Marny Pascua - Ensemble

a Soph in Cinematic Arts at the UH Mānoa School of Cinematic Arts. A rising filmmaker with an interest in Directing and Writing. With RENT

Jessy is bettering his acting abilities and he had always dreamed of being in musical.

Kaponianani Purdy - Ensemble

is pursuing a B.A. in Pacific Island Studies with a minor in ‘Ōlelo Hawai‘i. A lifelong performer, she finds joy in the art of Pacific Island dance and her love for the stage has led her to take on a new challenge—musical theatre.

Tyler Shimabukuro - Ensemble

He developed a passion for opera in college and continues to pursue his dream of becoming a performer and voice teacher. He his BA in Music from UH Mānoa in and studies. Tyler performed with the Hawaii Int'l Music Festival.

Evie Sweet - Ensemble

A 1st-year pursuing a BFA in Acting and a minor in Education. Having only started doing musical theater in high school, she is grateful for all the opportunities she's had. Evie is a proud grad of Franklin High in Seattle.

Hollee Temple - Ensemble

Made her pro debut in

Dreamgirls with Billy Porter! When she’s not directing the legal writing program at Richardson

Law she is working on her family’s musical, Star Machine. Thanks to John, Gideon, Hank, & Richardson colleagues.

Anneliese Wirsching - Ensemble

A BFA dance student at UH Mānoa, set to graduate this spring! Credits: MFA/BFA dance show, “Introspection,” and Kaʻena in Glitter in the Paʻakai written and directed by our very own Joshua “Baba” Tavares.

Joshua 'Baba' Tavares - Director

Asst Prof of Acting at UH Mānoa. Actor, singer, dancer, director, choreographer, writer, composer and coffee-addict from Hōnaunau, Kona on Hawaiʻi Island. Credits: ʻAuana, Rescue HI Surf, Kāmau Trilogy, Puana and my original play Glitter in the Paʻakai. I am grateful to get to return to this special show after playing the role of Angel in the Nat'l Tour.

Aubrey Lee Staley - Choreographer

a Kanaka ʻŌiwi, trained in Ballet, Tap, Hip Hop, Jazz, and Musical Theatre at Punahou Dance School, HDS, DHT, 24VII Danceforce, BDC (NY), and IDA (CA). A Poʻokela Award winner for Best Leading Female in a Musical, she has performed on nearly every stage in Hawaiʻi. She has taught at UCLA, choreographed for Kaiser and Punahou Schools.

Justin Fragiao - Tech Director

An Actor, Director, Designer, born & raised on Oʻahu. He serves as the Technical Director of Kennedy Theatre at UH-Mānoa and has an MFA in Scenic Design. He previously served as the Technical Director for local community theaters Kumu Kahua Theatre and Mānoa Valley Theatre.

Erin Breitenbach - Production Mgr

She was most recently a theatre consultant and project manager for Theatre Projects, working on theatre building designs and systems in theatres all across the US. Erin was the Theatre Mgr and Tech Dir for a school district in Westminster Colorado.

Taisamasama Kaiminaauao-Eteuati - Music Director

Graduated from UH Mānoa in 2024 and received a BA in Hawaiian Language and a double minor in Music and Political Science. 

FREE THEATRE WORKSHOP


As part of the visit, the RENT team will offer a FREE acting workshop to share and engage Kauaʻi’s community of storytellers and artists. Workshop takes place onstage.

Free & Open to the Community! All levels welcome. High School Ages and Up. Join UH Mānoa’s Asst Prof & Head of Acting, Joshua “Baba” Tavares, with UHM acting students for a workshop.
