RES NEWS For 5/15-5/19

Hello Laura,

2023-2024 STUDENT CLASS PLACEMENT

  • Beginning in late May and early June, RES grade level teams will be determining class lists for the 2023-24 school year. All of our teachers are highly qualified, so you can be assured that your child will be placed in a classroom environment that will be conducive to his/her learning style. We do understand that there may be extenuating circumstances in which you may need to correspond with the team regarding your child’s needs and/or learning style preferences. If that is the case, please submit a letter addressed to Mrs. Baerlocher explaining your child’s specific needs and/or teacher attributes that best fit your child (rather than a specific teacher’s name). Your request will be considered when determining class placement. Please understand that there may be changes in grade level teacher assignments prior to next school year. Please submit your letter to the main office before Friday, May 19th. The team will do its best to meet your child’s needs while also considering the needs of all students. Families will receive class placement letters for the 23-24 school year in the mail over the summer. Our Open House date to meet the teacher will be August 23, 2023, 4:00-6:00pm.

DROP OFF

  • For families who drop off in the morning: Please remember to stay in the line, pull up and please do not get out of your vehicle. If you do help your child out of the vehicle, please pull up to the front of the line.

DISMISSAL REMINDER

  • For families picking up at the end of the day: Please remember to loop the end of the pick up line through the bus garage parking lot and along the fence. Additionally, continue to pull forward in line even if this means your child has to meet you in a different portion of the line. Lastly, all families must use the app and announce their child upon arrival. The efficiency and safety of the line relies on families using the app and pulling forward (even when you can see your child coming). There should not be large gaps in the line. We appreciate your understanding!

MEDICATION FORM POLICY

  • If your child takes medication at school, written authorization from parents/guardians and or medical professionals is required using the district form. An "Administration of Medication Form" is available in the office and must be filled out prior to administering any medication. This is for prescription and over the counter medication. Medication must be dropped off by an adult to the main office and cannot go back and forth with students.

I-CHAT FORMS

  • Please make sure if you plan on entering the building you have completed a I-Chat form and it has been approved by the Board of Education Office. If you are uncertain please call the main office prior to visiting. There is a form attached but if you another form sent home please contact the main office, (989) 275-6610.

ATTENDANCE CALLS

  • When your student is absent please remember to call the attendance line to excuse their absence. Please call (989) 275-6612. For any other questions or concerns please call the main office line at (989) 275-6610.

Colder Weather
The weather is beginning to turn cold. Please send your student to school with outdoor clothing. All students play outside, so it’s important that they come ready for colder days. If you feel like your child needs to stay inside, please send a physician’s note to the classroom teacher. The teacher then can direct the child to the office during recess.

Lost and Found
The Lost and Found is located in the cafeteria. If your child is missing an item, please have your childmake sure to check in the lost and found for it. Every few weeks, students are encouraged to check for any missing items.  At the end of each semester, unclaimed items are donated to a local charity.
