Revised Procurement Policy Takes Effect

Effective immediately, all invoices related to sponsored research from subrecipients or subcontractors, regardless of the invoice amount, must be approved by the designated "Approver" prior to payment by Accounts Payable. This individual is listed as the "Prepared For" on the relevant purchase order. This change to the Procurement policy regarding " Pay an Invoice " is being implemented to ensure compliance with Uniform Guidance §200.301 and §200.331 regarding the proper monitoring of subawards.

Funding Spotlight
Limited Submission Opportunities
The National Institutes of Health's Enhancing Science, Technology, EnginEering, and Math Educational Diversity (ESTEEMED) Research Education Experiences (R25) Funding Opportunity Announcement will support creative educational activities with a primary focus on Research Experiences and Mentoring Activities for underrepresented undergraduate freshmen and sophomores in a science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM) field, especially those fields which broadly impact bioengineering. Proposals are limited to one per DUNS number and pre-proposals must be submitted through the Rutgers   Limited Submission process The internal application deadline is March 4, 2019.

Research Council Grants and Subventions
The Research Council supports studies leading to significant outside funding and publication in all fields of learning represented in the University as well as for creative work in the arts. Applicants may request funds for a variety of research needs, such as equipment and supplies, research assistance, subvention for publication of scholarly books, and essential travel related to research. Subventions provide partial subsidies to university and other highly regarded scholarly presses for the publication of scholarly books authored by full-time faculty, given that in some cases, such presses ask authors to cover a portion of the cost of publishing a scholarly book in order to make it more affordable. Deadline: March 29, 2019.  Learn more

Harnessing the Data Revolution (HDR): Institutes for Data-Intensive Research in Science and Engineering - Frameworks (I-DIRSE-FW)
The National Science Foundation released a solicitation, titled Institutes for Data-Intensive Research in Science and Engineering - Frameworks (I-DIRSE-FW), intended to accelerate data-intensive science and engineering through convergence between science and engineering researchers and researchers with expertise in data science foundations, systems, and applications. The Frameworks solicitation will support already formed interdisciplinary teams that are ready to conceptualize and pilot new modes of engaging in data-intensive science and engineering that identify and solve challenges associated with making discoveries from complex data analysis. Deadline: May 7, 2019.  Learn more
