Good afternoon,

Caregiving in America is changing. Today, 53 million Americans provide unpaid care to an adult with health/functional needs — an increase from 43.5 million just 5 years ago. That's according to the 2020 update on Caregiving in the U.S. report, recently released by the National Alliance for Caregiving and AARP. They also found that:

  • More Americans are caring for someone with dementia or Alzheimer's disease (than in 2015)
  • 45% of family caregivers have had at least 1 financial impact
  • More family caregivers have difficulty coordinating care (than in 2015)
  • 23% of Americans say that caregiving has made their health worse

Caregivers need support and knowledge more than ever before. Best Practice Caregiving (BPC) was created so that organizations that support dementia caregivers have access to the top programs improving the lives of caregivers.

Below, we share news of 2 dementia caregiving programs just added to BPC and a touching story of how one program at UCLA is helping patients and caregivers thrive. Stay safe and be well.

Sincerely,

The Best Practice Caregiving Team
