RESIST - Final Newsletter

Newsletter N°6 - July 2022

Editorial

Welcome to the fifth RESIST Newsletter!

The RESIST project is a Research and Innovation Action that has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation Programme, under the Grant Agreement No 769066.

RESIST (RESilient transport InfraSTructure to extreme events), a 46-month project that started on 01 September 2018, aims to increase the resilience of seamless transport operation to natural and man-made extreme events, protect the users of the European transport infrastructure and provide optimal information to the operators and users of the transport infrastructure.

This is the sixth issue of our newsletter, which presents the final event and final dissemination activity of the project.

RESIST Final Event

The RESIST final event took place on Friday, 24th June 2022 as an online event.

It was organised to reach a wide audience, relevant and important stakeholders and enhance the impact of the results. The consortium partners presented the innovative technologies developed within the project, like the RESIST Platform and Integration Environment, the Aerial robots and Ground Control Station, the Structural Vulnerability Assessment, the Mobility Continuity module and more, as well as the project’s pilot demonstrations’ outcomes.

During the event, the participants had the opportunity to learn about the achievements of the project, the components, and the validation of the RESIST system. The final event was organised by FEHRL and ICCS with contributions from the whole consortium and it was divided into 3 sessions:

  • Session 1: Welcome and general introduction -  Introduction by the Project Officer (CINEA), the project coordinator (ICCS) and the Dissemination Manager (FEHRL), providing an overview of the project’s concept
  • Session 2: RESIST Innovations Presentations on the innovations developed in the project, in terms of key functionalities and added value to the overall goal
  • Session 3: RESIST System Validation and Results Analysis of the outcomes extracted by the two pilot demonstrations conducted in Greece and Italy and their outcomes.

In total, 50 people from over 10 countries participated in the RESIST Final Event, providing positive feedback. All presentations from the final event have been uploaded in the RESIST project’s website and can be downloaded from here. The recording of the event is also available here.

RESIST Dissemination Activities

Below are the dissemination activities of the project in 2022

RESIST was presented at the exhibition part of the event using roll-up, business cards and flyers.

   - Poster 1: Resilience Transport Infrastructure to Extreme Events (see figure below).

  - Poster 2: Addressing the Information Needs of Road Users in Extreme Emergency Events -  Utilizing New Technologies

RESIST Future Dissemination Activities

The RESIST consortium plans the following dissemination activities over the next few months, to promote their efforts and increase the awareness on infrastructure resilience.

  • Publication of RESIST results at the FEHRL Infrastructure Research Magazine, 2022.
  • Joint invited session proposal submitted for TRA2022, Lisbon (14 – 17 November 2022). The RESIST, FORESEE, SAFEWAY & PANOPTIS projects have submitted a proposal for an invited session at TRA2022.
  • Publication of the design and operation of the RESIST aerial robots for tunnel contact inspection, to be submitted to journal IEEE-ASME Transactions on Mechatronics (in preparation).
  • Publication of the localization and control of the RESIST aerial robots for tunnel contact inspection, to be submitted to journal IEEE Robotics and Automation Letters (in preparation).
