New York
REST staff will be traveling to New York to observe two REST Master Trainers' first Train-the-Trainer course at Quail Summit in Canadaigua . New York State Caregiving and Respite Coalition, in partnership with Ithaca College and the Finger Lakes Geriatric Education Center, will help make the Oct. 6-7 course possible.
A REST Train-the-Trainer course will take place Oct.12-13, at Catholic Charities Older Adult Services in Buffalo.  Click for more details

In honor of National Family Caregiving Month, which takes place in November, the Alabama Lifespan Respite Resource Network will hold a Caregiver Appreciation Event , Nov. 18, at Brookdale Jones Farm in Huntsville.  The event will include door prizes, manicures, lunch, Bingo and more. Two REST Trainers from Sanders County Council on Aging and Lake County Council on Aging recently presented information on the REST training model at the Missoula Information & Assistance Recertification meeting hosted by the Montana Office on Aging. These REST trainers have started using our training model to train volunteers and respite workers this fall in their state.

The 2016 Arkansas Lifespan Respite Summit will take place on Oct. 21, at Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church in Little Rock . The all-day information and training event will help increase the number of available respite care providers in Arkansas. Find out more about this free event
Eight individuals completed a REST Train-the-Trainer course Sept. 8-9, at the Summit Community and Senior Center in Frisco through the Alpine Area Agency on Aging.  See a photo from the training here. Joe Thompson attended the second day of the training.  His generous donation to the REST program, and his vision to have volunteer respite workers in every community, have helped make REST a reality. After spending time with the trainers, Joe commented on how passionate and engaged they were about REST and was able to thank them personally for their commitment to respite.
REST trainers had the opportunity to mingle during a cocktail reception we hosted during last month's Elevate Respite! 17th National Lifespan Respite Conference in Denver . We also enjoyed meeting attendees who stopped by our exhibit table to learn how REST is building networks of support for caregivers throughout the nation.
Congratulations to REST Trainers, staff and Companions from Nebraska - named 'REST State of the Year!'   See photo here. They have been utilizing REST training in Nebraska since REST launched in February 2013. In 2016, to date, Nebraska trainers have held a total of 17 REST Companion classes, and have trained approximately 75 new REST Companions. Respite efforts were expanded through their partnership  with the Munroe Meyer Institute at the University of Nebraska at Omaha to solidify research efforts around respite in their state. In addition, t hey continue to look for new ways to expand respite services through their employer engagement project, 
Calvary Lutheran Church, Wood Dale will hold two respite care events :  A fall respite care event on Oct. 8, and an inclusive Reformation chapel service followed by lunch on Oct. 30.  Additional information here
