In each of us, there is an enormous amount of unused potential. In fact, most people function at about one third of their potential, their gifts and their abilities. In some cases, this is because we become satisfied with simply doing enough to get by when there is so much more we could accomplish or achieve. In many cases, however, we do not function closer to our full potential because of doubt and fear. We fear failure and we doubt our God given ability. Fear and doubt are absolutely the tools of the enemy used to prevent us from doing all God has created us to do.
When I was young, people would ask me what I wanted to do in my life. I would always give them a list of things I wanted to do. Not simply tasks, but multiple careers. Those who questioned me would always walk away feeling I was either indecisive or confused. In fact, I simply wanted to use all of the potential God had placed in me. At this point in my journey, I feel enormously blessed to have done many of the things God put in my heart and mind when I was younger. However, there are still more things left to do and I’m not tired yet.
What has God told you to do that you have avoided or resisted because of doubt or fear? What potential still lives within you that is untapped or unexpressed? As we begin this new year, take the time to do an assessment of the inventory of your gifts, skills and abilities. Perhaps, this is the season for you to do something different, something new, something that will fill you with life. I could not think of any better time to start a new thing than right now.
Looking forward to the next adventure,
