REVERSIBLE HOV EXPRESS LANES ON I-64 AND I-564 WILL CLOSE FOR EQUIPMENT UPDATE
Closures scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 12 and Saturday, Dec. 19

NORFOLK – The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will close the reversible high-occupancy vehicle (HOV) Express Lanes from I-64 to I-564 to install equipment updates this weekend.

Crews are scheduled to close the eastbound and westbound reversible HOV Express Lanes as early as Saturday, Dec. 12, at 7 a.m. until approximately 9 p.m. that day.

As the installation and updates take place, VDOT will be performing testing of the newly installed software. Motorists can expect to see the gates of the Express Lanes open and close periodically throughout the course of the day during this testing, with the road remaining closed to traffic.

Crews will repeat this process again on Saturday, Dec. 19, from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.

This work is dependent on weather and subject to change. Planned backup dates for this work are Dec. 13 and Dec 20, if rescheduled from original dates.

Motorists are encouraged to visit www.511virginia.org, call 511, or download Virginia’s free 511 mobile app, for current traffic and travel information.
