Paving the Way to the Future – October 2021 –
History in the Making
Someday, in the not-too-distant future, a conversation around the Thanksgiving table or a holiday gathering will point out how quick and easy the drive from West Virginia to Moon or Findlay Twps., via the new PA Southern Expressway has become or how our relatives were amazed at the new Pittsburgh International Airport upon their arrival from the west coast. A conversation about the great seats for the holiday show at Robert Morris University at the new UPMC Event Center is also in our future. Well, the future is here, and everyone should take stock in how far the airport area has come.
Airport area businesses and residents are feeling the effects and the pride of “Making History Again” here in the corridor better known as the airport area. History shows that “Ninety years ago, Allegheny County Airport opened the first airport in the nation with full lighting and paved runways. We made aviation history. Today at Pittsburgh International Airport we’re making history again” said CEO Christina Cassotis as the ground was broken with the new terminal modernization project.
On October 14th, 2021, we enjoyed a beautiful autumn morning and the long-awaited Southern Beltway toll road opened to traffic connecting the southern region to the Pittsburgh International Airport in less than 15 short minutes. Wrapping up our history lesson for this month, “Robert Morris University is celebrating 100 years of launching students into great careers and great lives” said VP Public Relations and Marketing, Jonathan Potts with Robert Morris University. We are so proud that RMU has taken the past century to offer professionally focused degree programs, online and at its campus here in Moon Township.
We’ve come a long way and the future is looking bright for businesses and for you, the people who make up our airport area.
