November 18, 2017
Avenue 50 Studio in collaboration with Regal House Publishing invites you to join us in celebrating the launch of:

From award-winning fiction writer and book critic, Daniel A. Olivas, comes his first collection of poetry, Crossing the Border.

These narrative poems delve deeply into the many ways we cross borders of race, culture, language, religion, and privilege. With humor and pathos, Olivas draws from his own life and from the stories of others to serve as a witness to the great variety of experiences that make us human. With grace and eloquence, he invites readers to cross these borders with him on this intense but necessary journey.

Take the Purposeful Aging Survey
The County of Los Angeles and the City of Los Angeles are seeking input on what is existing and what is needed for the quality of life for older adults. Input can be provided to them via a electronic survey (to be done between August 14 and September 14). Assuming we have a desire to age within the Los Angeles region, this is our opportunity to give input to public policy officials. The goal is to develop an action plan for the region to share with our cities and the county in the coming months. For more information and to access the survey, click here.
For the first time in a half-century, the City of Los Angeles is undertaking a comprehensive update to its guiding vision, the General Plan. This initiative, OurLA2040, will result in a new 20-year citywide plan to be adopted in 2020, putting in place strong and visionary policies to help create a more prosperous, livable, and sustainable Los Angeles.
