A Message from Rev. Paula+
Sunset at the waterfront
Beloved Community,

I am away from the office beginning this Saturday, returning on Sunday, August 4th.  On Sunday morning I head to my "happy place," the Barbara C. Harris Camp & Conference Center for the week.  I'll be in one of the most beautiful places I know, spending time as a chaplain to campers and staff.  Although there is work involved in this vacation, it is one of the highlights of my year.  It is hard to describe how fun and fulfilling it is to play and pray with children and young adults who explore what it means to live a life of faith in a place that offers a radical welcome and hospitality that is second to none.  Technically, as a chaplain and fully adult person, I am there to lead and to teach, but that is truly only a technicality.  I learn more about God and how to live well in community from the campers and staff than I could ever hope to teach.

When I return, I will come back to this place, to all of you, gladly, joyfully, and with hopefulness and excitement about the upcoming program year.  As I've said a few times, even though it seems as if things have quieted down, behind the scenes we have been as busy as ever.  We'll begin to talk about what we're doing in the months ahead as continue to talk about "Living Our Faith."

Peace & Blessings,
Paula+

In our journey around the Anglican Communion...
...we are back in The Episcopal Church, using a liturgy from Enriching Our Worship 1, a supplemental resource approved as Enriching Our Worship by the Standing Liturgical Commission of the General Convention in 1997.  We are using "Eucharistic Prayer 1" on Sunday.  While that particular liturgy may not be familiar to you, you likely would find "Eucharistic Prayer 2" familiar.  It is the liturgy St. Stephen's has used as "A Eucharistic Prayer for the Creation Season,"  found in the front of the St. Stephen's Hymnal.

There now are five volumes of Enriching Our Worship, each with a different focus.  We adapted  Enriching Our Worship 4 for our Celebration of New Ministry in March.  Each of the volumes is available online in .pdf from from Church Publishing, which is found  here

Blessings,
Paula+

Prison Ministry Update...
It's not to late to volunteer for DRUMMING CAMP!

Camp is the week of August 18th.  We set up on the 18th and then greet the campers at 3:00 pm on the 19th and bid them goodbye at 7:30 pm, which we will do the 20th-23rd, as well.  There are lots of ways to help, no special skills needed, just a loving heart and a desire to welcome these children again this year.  There are opportunities for an evening or two, or the full-week.  Please talk to Fran Taber, Kim Williams, or Rev. Paula if you know you want to help or if you need encouragement to join the team.

CHRISTMAS IN JULY FOR NORTH PORCH
Once again, St. Stephen's is invited to participate in the Christmas in July collection for North Porch. You may donate emergency items such as Enfamil powdered formula, diapers, jars of veggie baby food, and baby wipes. Boxes will be available in the Narthex and the collection will culminate on Sunday, July 28

More specifics will follow in regards to the emergency items. You can also donate online through the North Porch website.

IHN
Mark your calendar for  the week of August 11 .  While we were unable to host this year, we have a second
chance to continue our long-standing commitment to the Interfaith Hospitality Network for the Homeless.  Our neighbor, Wyoming Presbyterian, has offered to take up one of the (many) open weeks, but it's prime vacation time and they're challenged for volunteers.

If you are likely to be free to make a meal, help with the kids or host overnight,
please sign-up on the volunteer sheets located on the bulletin board in the Narthex .

If you have any questions, please contact  Margo Greenfield at greenfieldmargo@gmail.com
or 973-868-9085.

We will discuss the book Marriage and Other Acts of Charity by Kate Braestrup and will meet Sunday, September 8 at 11:30 am.

All selections are available from Cokesbury, Barnes & Noble, and Amazon. The group will meet after coffee hour in the upstairs library/music room. Visit our website calendar for meeting dates and book selections.
