The end of the school year is a reminder of the many traditions that have been established at Queen of Angels and mark certain “rites of passages” for our students.
Last week QA hosted 17 Catholic schools within the Archdiocese of Atlanta with over 300 student participating in the
Battle of the Books.
What a great celebration of the importance of reading and teamwork. I am most grateful for the many parent volunteers of that assisted QA in hosting this annual event.
Congratulations to our 6
Grade team for winning the 6
We celebrated a beautiful 1
Communion Mass with our 2
grade students and families last Friday.
While our Queen of Angels students are prepared in their home parishes, we come together as a faith community to honor their reception of the Sacrament. The innocence of our 1
Communicants is a testament to the beauty of their faith and a growing relationship with Jesus.
At the other end of spectrum is our 8
grade students. We will celebrate the traditional Lux Reginae Angelorum Mass on Friday, May 17
Light of the Queen of Angels
will be passed from the 8
grade to 7
The practice of lighting candles is an important tradition in Catholic churches, communities and families. Its origins can be traced back in the Old Testament times where an oil lamp is lighted to “keep a flame burning perpetually” (Exodus 27:19-20). Symbolically, the person who receives the “Light” will continue to live and walk in Truth based on a foundation of respect, righteousness and readiness needed to keep the flame of faith burning. We look forward this passing of the “Light” as we begin the process of bidding farewell to the Class of 2019 and preparing the Class of 2020 for their leadership at Queen of Angels.
There have been additional updates to our faculty/staff I would like to share with you.
