RFSC NEWS

We are thankful for the generosity of those who have supported Retrievers and Friends. We are grateful for the volunteers who donate their time, help, and care for the animals at the rescue.

We have so much to be thankful for.

We are feeling very thankful this time of year.

The volunteer work we do for RFSC, helping with home visits along with foster care. We have been blessed to open our home to foster over 267 dogs. All who came to us in need of love, care and a home of their own. Right now we have three wonderful foster puppies. Tiger Lily is a precious Pug mix. Carter is a great little guy. He is a Yorkie mix. Marty, a character for sure, he is a Maltese - Terrier mix. All are spayed/neutered, up to date on shots, and microchipped. All are available for adoption. They can be found on our website: www.retrieversandfriends.com We are always glad to answer any questions and do a FaceTime visit to show you what great little dogs they are.

Anna and Richard, Committed Volunteers

RFSC rescued two Arabian mares that had been neglected and starved. The mares were traumatized and will take some time to heal and recover. We are pleased with their progress so far.

Thank you to everyone for the good wishes

prayers and support.

These Maltipoo pups were born on 8/29 on the side of the road in San Bernardino across from a homeless camp in the dirt. A good samaritan brought them to us. Mom and all 8 puppies

are doing well!

We took in a dear little dog. The kind couple said she was abandoned at a dog park. We could see she was pregnant. That night she delivered 4 little puppies. Later that evening she delivered 1 more. We feel blessed to be able to care for this dear mother dog. We have named her Precious.

The first picture is heartbreaking. A man who was desperate to find homes for his dogs. He sat at a store in Perris with this sign in the bed of his truck. Thanks to our volunteer who took action to direct him to our rescue. We gladly excepted the little dogs. Sadly the mom was handed out to someone. We have the 2 little female dogs. He said they are one year old. This is a picture of them now at the rescue. Heater on, warm and cozy as they wait for homes.

Many times, you will see dogs in our care, looking beautiful and ready for adoption. In Dandy’s case, he lived in a dirt pen with an old mattress filled with

feces. This was in the desert.

Dandy's new family named him Poochie. They sent us this wonderful update:

Both my dogs passed away within 5 weeks of each other.

Both were older. It was devastating. I felt the only way to start to recover was to “ pay it forward. “

In other words, take the love my two dogs gave me and pour it into a dog who needed a home.

I looked at hundreds of dog pictures from various rescue organizations. I saw a picture of a sweet, white dog from RFSC. There was something in his eye that drew me. The people at the rescue told me this dog lived in squalid conditions, in a cage with two bigger dogs, and a filthy mattress. I was eager to give him a good life, so I went through the adoption process. We loved each other right away and Poochie came home with me. Liz at RFSC described him as a “ dear dog “ and she was right.

He is affectionate, intelligent, and eager to please.

Since Poochie came to live with us, I’ve been thinking of the last lines of the book Black Beauty: “ My [family has] promised that I shall never be [abandoned], and so I have nothing to fear; and here my story ends. My troubles are all over, and I am at home….”

With big gratitude to Retrievers and Friends, I say Thank you for saving Poochie for me. And to Poochie, I say welcome home.

This dear dog came to us at age 15 when he no longer had a home. We posted his picture as many of you saw and were so kind to send prayers.

Our prayers were answered. A very kind lady who opens her home to older dogs in need adopted our dear Alvin. As we arrived at the home it was like a hallmark movie to see the warmth and love this kind lady had to offer. Her dog who is 13 was adopted from a shelter. She wagged her tail at Alvin and welcomed him into her home. There was a basket full of toys and soft big dog beds throughout the home.

Take a look at Alvin now. Thank you Nancy. Thank you God for providing time and time again.

RFSC rescued this sweet older pony from an auction. He is so gentle. One of our volunteers daughter, Lilith is giving him love.
