Rockford-Greenfield Area Chamber of Commerce Welcomes ... Kris Strobel!
For those who have not heard, Dustin Bardon, the former Executive Director with the Rockford Area Historical Society and Stork House, has moved to Buffalo, New York. Yes, New York, not Minnesota! He moved to be closer to his girlfriend who teaches there.
I was hired by RAHS as the new Executive Director. I have a varied background with 22 years small business management experience; and experience in various positions including executive director with Habitat for Humanity, Red Cross, MN Reading and Math Corps, Meals on Wheels and more. My undergrad is in Communications and I have a Masters Degree in Nonprofit Management.
I am very much enjoying RAHS and am enchanted with Stork House. Please feel free to ask if there is anything the historical society can do for you, or if you would like to tour the Stork House.

The Chamber is a voluntary organization of people with business, professional, and
educational interests working together towards enhancing and improving the economic, civic, and cultural interests of our communities.
According to one legend, an imprisoned "Saint" Valentine actually sent the first "valentine" greeting himself after he fell in love with a young girl-possibly his jailor's daughter-who visited
him during his confinement. Before his death, it is alleged that he wrote her a letter signed "From your Valentine," an expression that is still in use today. Although the truth behind the Valentine legends is murky, the stories all emphasize his appeal as a sympathetic, heroic and-most importantly-romantic figure.
