Hi. Here I sit with a summer cold…Eeek! Home from work and didn’t teach my Monday class. I did get a lot done in the garden and am cleaning the house for guests over the 4th of July weekend. On Sunday, June 29th, Butch and I took the LIRR into Manhattan to celebrate Harris Poor’s 90th birthday. He and his wife, Lavonne, have been students of mine for many years. They host my fitness class using a voice recording created for them when I’m out of town. It was a fun event with several of his close friends at Arte Cafe on West 73rd St. The food was great as was the company. On the train ride home I got a sore throat, a familiar sign for me of a cold coming on and sure enough here I am going through the process. Not covid, thanks.
We have just signed a new lease at our 939 8th Ave Landmarks location and with it a new studio space on the 4th floor, 4B. We were able to get a rent reduction and a new tax base year which will save us some money over the 5 year lease. We will be doing some reno over there and the landlord is spiffing up the halls. We’ll do an article specifically on that landmark building and its long history.
The 4th of July is a big celebration and many towns and cities will host fireworks and parades.
Our dog, Johnny Depp Ripley-Grier is not happy at all. He needs tranquilizers daily this time of the year. I think we all need them to handle the bombardment of mixed messages being sent by the government and our leaders. Whas! Happening? I have been following politics since the 50’s when my dad wore an “I Like Ike!” button. Yep, seen a lot. I am currently applying for a British passport so we can escape the craziness at will. (my Mom was born in Scotland so I qualify for dual citizenship). We are looking at a possible RG satellite location in London. Our daughter, Jeannie, is keen on living there and running a studio.
Next year The USA will be 250 years old and we are still in the early stages of our country’s history. Some countries lasted many centuries, a few over 1000 years, some successes and some failures. We are just a spoiled toddler in life, in our history and it shows. No one seemed to have learned or cared to remember our mission as a country and the many years we have struggled to be free to do and say and be who we are. We are a nation of immigrants for sure. The early ones were not very appreciative from day one when we crashed and smashed our way across this land inhabited by Native Americans. How arrogant to be taught in our history classes that someone “discovered” America. It was already here and doing just fine when we invaded (don’t get me started)..
We have just done a top to bottom cleaning of our house and are still working on the clutter clearing. Speaking about clutter clearing we have decided to go to therapy, individually and as a family to get some internal clutter clearing.
Enjoy the holidays, the summer and get to the beach, it is fantastic and so soul cleansing.
Better and Better, Patricia

Hi everyone!
I hope everyone had an amazing Pride Month and anyone who attended the NYC Pride March had a great time!
When it comes to Broadway shows I have a lot to catch up on. I thought I’d have seen more Tony nominated shows before the awards but I didn’t have time, so now I’m trying to see as many as I can! Some shows are closing or have stars that will have their final performance soon so I’m prioritizing those. I just saw Glengarry Glen Ross with Kieran Culkin, Bob Odenkirk, Bill Burr, and Michael McKean. It definitely seemed to be more of a comedy and the performances were so good, especially Kieran and Bob. It was interesting how it was split up in acts, with act one only being around 30 minutes to set up act two which was closer to an hour.
Next I’ll be seeing The Picture of Dorian Gray with Sarah Snook. I was excited to see it before, but now that Sarah has won a Tony Award for her performance I’m even more excited!
In July I’ll be trying to see John Proctor Is the Villain before Sadie Sink leaves, Sunset Blvd. before it closes, and & Juliet before Joey Fatone leaves.
Until next month, Jeannie
