Well, well, well, we are in a very turbulent and confusing time in the development of our country, and its place in the world. The daily back and forth is annoying as heck! Constant news coverage. Our New York born and raised president continues to go into self proclaiming directions only he has a map of. So stay informed, watch out for chatbots, socialize and get out and see creative uplifting performances and events. “This too shall pass”
We are back from Key West after a winter stay and settled into our lovely Long Island home this week. We will spend 6 months in the Northeast and 6 months in Florida as part of our normal life now. In the northeast we enjoy many of the natural, spacious parks. It’s just a couple of hours drive up to New York’s beautiful mountains and lakes. Long Island has some of the country’s best beaches and the Hamptons and Montauk are so nautical and have great seafood. Of course we have super fun surfing and body boarding. Looking forward to seeing our 4 grandkids and our son and daughter in law, as well as friends and my fitness students.
My advice is: get out and about in nature, definitely go in the ocean and hike(walk) in the mountains. Maintain your health and fitness. Find a routine that you can stick to. Eat well, play well and sleep well. Feed your brain, read, go to movies and the theater. Catch some outdoor entertainment. Plan trips, short ones and long ones. Spend time with family and friends. Start a new hobby or renew interest in a former one. Spring clean your living and working areas. Shed old worn or poorly fitting clothes and cast off clutter.
I’ll resume teaching my functional fitness classes at West 72nd St Studios on Monday May 4. Also back to Active Life personal training sessions twice a week. There are plenty of Spring chores to do at home and at work. Although I find it difficult to leave Key West as it is a more relaxing time for me, I am happy to be in New York. I did about 6 hours of work in my garden this weekend and will be planting vegetables this month. We’re visiting family in Tulsa, Okla.in May then out to California for the wedding of Jeannie’s best friend, Rayleene on May 23rd in Newport Beach. Jeannie is a bridesmaid, so she is going out before us.
The “excursion” into the Middle East continues with many decisions and/or projections being made daily. Hoping it ends soon so we can get back to the promises to improve health care, child care, job security, lower prices, and to concentrate on our country’s many challenges. Looking forward to the 250th year celebration of the “American” social/political experiment.
Better and Better, Sincerely, Patricia Ripley-Grier
