Dear Family and Friends,
Fall is that special time of year when I feel awakened and ready to dig deeper into my life's purpose: Cleaning, plucking, and pruning (as my dear mother used to say)!
I always begin the season by reflecting in the recesses of my heart, which was awakened suddenly by extremely sad news. My closest brother, Terry, passed away at the end of the summer. This news tilled the soil of my heart, and I've been reeling ever since.
He was a kind and gentle man. Always quietly supporting my musical endeavors and life choices. Terry leaves behind two wonderful adult children and two beautiful grandchildren. He'll be sorely missed. My heart grieves.
But the many tears I've shed have softened my heart so much that I decided to go on a women's retreat in October. While away on this adventure, I, along with 100 women, delved into some fun activities, including:
- Hiking
- Planting flowers
- Sharing life stories around the campfire with S'mores
I came away feeling refreshed and revived!
The takeaway for me personally is that God is my rear guard, and no matter what, God has my back. (Isaiah 58:8)
Through the years, I've made many mistakes and endeavor to ask forgiveness as well as accept forgiveness. This is ALL part of the plucking and pruning as I see it. Thanks MOM!!!
So, I just keep planting and watching what will grow in my life. I've cleansed my heart by first forgiving myself and by extending that to others. To me, that is love.
Music has always been my first love language, as well as my vocation and my constant source of gratification. I've determined that I'll just keep sowing the seeds of love by way of music...
With that being said, some of my musical PLANTINGS this fall have been the completion and release of my latest CD: "The Tree of Life". Be on the lookout for this release around Christmas time.
This musical project has been 7 years in the making, so I'm very grateful to have completed this work. I give MANY THANKS to Kori Carothers, who has guided me through the weeds of today's music industry. I couldn't have done it without her!
From "The Tree of Life" one single has BLOSSOMED and has been submitted for a Grammy nomination.
I have happily and with great pride put forth, "Chorean" for a Grammy consideration. This is my tribute to Chick Corea as well as a musical expose on how I see the world.
I am a traveler and love working with other artists from around the world. This helps me GROW!
This Christmas, I'll be in Boston, MA, for three very special concerts.
While in Boston, I'll also have the privilege of serving the elderly communities. I'll be performing with my singing partner, Miriam Eyges, in our duo "Musical Interludes". We'll be sharing seasonal songs at some of our favorite elderly communities:
