This year’s Senior Scholarships application deadline is this Tuesday, April 22. These $1,000 scholarships provide deserving students with financial support for their higher education journey. Whether it's tuition, room and board, or textbooks, the scholarship can help offset the costs of college or vocational school. Selection is based on various criteria, such as involvement in extracurricular and community service activities, academic excellence, motivation, future goals, as well as any unique life challenges.

Just a few more days to order a beautiful Van Wingerden Greenhouses premium 12" hanging basket for either sun or shade. Order by this Wednesday, April 23 and baskets will be available for pick up on Saturday, May 3 at Redmond High School. Delivery time is set just a few days before our delivery date. If you have placed an order, we will let you know the time window as soon as we know it.

April is Global Volunteer Month! April 20-26 is National Volunteer Week! Let’s hear it for our volunteers! Volunteers, you are the heartbeat of our PTSA organization, so we’re celebrating you all April long! Today is VOLUNTEER RECOGNITION DAY and we recognize each and every one of our volunteers today!

What you can do to show your appreciation?

• Say thanks at PTSA meetings and events, at school or wherever you see someone helping out!
• Give a “Like” or write a note of appreciation on our RHS PTSA Facebook page!
• Attend events and fundraisers that volunteers work hard to organize to benefit our students and school!
• Join us to volunteer your own time/skills to our organization!

Volunteers Needed for PTSA Award Committee

We are looking for PTSA members who would like to promote, review, and select recipients for RHS PTSA awards. This appointed committee will help to recognize our outstanding volunteers, staff, and students who have played an integral part in our success throughout this school year. This volunteer position does not have a huge time commitment and includes reviewing nominations for awards and meeting once or twice to discuss and select award recipients. 

If you are interested in serving on this committee, please email president@redmondhsptsa.org. Volunteers must be LWSD approved.

Opportunity for Student Volunteer Hours at Wilder Elementary

For those interested in earning some extra volunteer hours, please consider volunteering at Wilder Elementary on Friday, April 25, from 4-7pm to help weed and beautify our garden beds! Bring your gardening gloves and any tools, to help with this fun project! Pizza, snacks, drinks, and dessert will be provided.

Redmond High School Choir Boosters offer scholarships for graduating seniors to help fund their post-secondary education. Prizes range between $250 - $500. The committee considers students contribution in the areas of leadership, inspiration to others, involvement in choir related activities, and their contribution to the improvement of the RHS choir program. If you are, or know, a graduating senior who qualifies for this scholarship, we encourage you/them to apply.

Application deadline is Thursday, April 24!

The Garrett J. Goodchild Achievement Award is a scholarship only offered to students who attend either Redmond High School, Lake Washington High School, or Eastlake High School and will be attending 1 of the 9 colleges (listed above) this upcoming fall. The scholarship offers $2,500 to one student and is renewable for up to 4 years.

As a memorial to Garrett J. Goodchild, who passed away in 1996 prior to his senior year at Eastlake High School in Redmond, Washington, family and friends established the Garrett J. Goodchild Achievement Award. This scholarship is intended to assist students from either Eastlake High School, Lake Washington High School, or Redmond High School in attending one of the institutions of the Independent Colleges of Washington (ICW). Each of the previously selected Garrett J. Goodchild Scholars has represented the kind of young person that Garrett’s family and friends hope to see succeed in the quest for a college degree.

Applicants should be students who take seriously the opportunity for a college education and who offer a background of solid academic achievement (minimum high school cumulative GPA of 3.0), school leadership credentials, and community involvement. Demonstrated student financial need is considered. The ICW Scholarship Selection Committee chooses the Goodchild Scholar based on the application materials provided. Students may apply for the scholarship prior to making their final college choice, so long as they have applied to at least one of the above-listed colleges or universities.

Only a student enrolling as a full-time freshman at one of the above-listed independent colleges of Washington will be considered in this round. Scholarship funds are paid by ICW to the honoree’s college or university, and the funds are then applied toward the student’s tuition and academic-related charges.

Recipients may choose to share their academic and collegiate experience with the donors. The award is subject to renewal for up to three additional years, provided the recipient maintains full-time status and satisfactory academic progress worthy of a merit-based award (3.0 cumulative GPA).

Guidelines are subject to change with approval of the ICW Board of Directors and the Goodchild family. Check it out and apply by Thursday, May 1!
