PTSA NEWS

From your PTSA President

Welcome new and returning RHS Families! I hope you all had a fun, safe, and relaxing summer. I can’t believe we’ll be back to school in just a week.

You’ll be hearing more from the Board throughout the year, so I will try to keep this message brief. I wanted to take this time to (re)introduce myself to our families on behalf of the RHS PTSA Board. I am proud to serve my second year as your PTSA President this year. I, as well as my fellow Board members, are here to help students, families, and staff throughout the school year. Whether you are new to RHS or a returning veteran, if you have any questions, concerns, comments, or suggestions about anything, please do not hesitate to reach out to any of us.

The PTSA is committed to its mission of supporting connections between home, school, and community and to enrich the learning environment for students, staff, and families. As a result, we will be sending out a weekly newsletter to keep you up-to-date on PTSA and school activities, holding five General Membership meetings (the first one is on October 18 at 6pm in the RHS Library - mark your calendars!), and advertising ways everyone can get involved in support of our mission.

Please enjoy your last week of summer break. Soak in the sun, get lots of rest, enjoy your family time, and we’ll see you on the first day of school!

Calling all Mustang Artists!

Reflections I am hopeful because

The Reflections Program is a National PTA cultural arts competition. Students use their creative talents to express themselves through an original work of art in response to a theme.

The theme for this year's program is “I am Hopeful Because…”. Art work can be expressed in one or more of the following categories: Dance Choreography, Film Production, Literature, Music Composition, Photography, and Visual Arts. Visit our Reflections page for more information.

Now is the time to start working on this year's Reflection art work. We cannot wait to see your creations! You can find more information here.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Volunteers Needed for Picture Day

Camera Picture Day

Picture Day is Wednesday, September 6 and RHS is counting on volunteers to make sure it runs smoothly! Volunteers will be handing out name cards to students and punching holes in ID cards for them to go on lanyards. Sign up to volunteer here!

All volunteers must be approved by the district. If you are not already a LWSD-approved volunteer (or if you need to make sure your 2 year approved status has not expired), click here for more info.

Thank you for generously giving your time to support our school!

PTSA Volunteer Opportunities

Are you interested in getting more involved and help improve our school community? We have several key PTSA positions open that we would like you to consider.

  • Beautification Chairperson – organize planting and care of drought-tolerant native plants in gardens around campus to keep us green and beautiful!

  • Art Fair Chairperson – help us host a community Art Fair this upcoming spring. Planning starts now to organize and line up vendors. This is a fun project that you can do from home!

  • VP of Ways & Means – this is a board position where you can have big impact! Plan and manage the PTSA’s fundraising efforts to make sure we have the resources to fund important programs and grants for our school

  • Reflections Chairperson – oversee the PTSA’s annual student art competition. Training is provided. This is another fun project that can be done from home. This is mostly a fall project and does not require a year-long commitment.

We would love to work with you! If you would like more information about any of these positions, please email volunteers@redmondhsptsa.org.
