We are a better organization because of you! It's a recurring feature that strives to shine light on PTSA's greatest assets, our volunteers!

Jay shared with us a little bit about herself and what motivates her to volunteer at RHS! “Volunteering at school is important to Jay because it allows her to contribute to the families within the community while inspiring her daughter to become an engaged citizen.”

The Redmond HS PTSA is hosting a Spring Arts Fair on Saturday, May 3 and we are looking for local artisans to be a part of this exciting event. It’s an equine extravaganza! Pony Helps out the Mustangs!

The PTSA has partnered with Pony Express Redmond in Redmond Town Center for a fundraiser for the month of January, and now extended thru February! The RHS PTSA will receive a portion of sales from Notary Services and Passport Photo Services from customers who mention “PTSA”, RHS”, “Redmond High School” before payment.

Junior Class Bake Sale – Donations Wanted

The Junior Class is excited to announce a bake sale on Friday, January 31 to raise funds for their prom next year! The sale will take place in the evening during the RHS Varsity Basketball games for both boys and girls. They are looking for donations of baked goods, which can be either store-bought or homemade.

You can drop off your delicious contributions in the leadership room (C106) during school hours or outside the gym before tip-off.

If you're attending the basketball games on Friday, don't forget to bring some cash and support the Class of 2026 by indulging in some delectable treats!

Yearbook Recognition Ads are the perfect way to commemorate achievements and celebrate milestones. In addition, revenues from Recognition Ads help our school create a better yearbook. To purchase your ad online, follow the instructions listed below. Jostens is responsible for our school's yearbook ad sales. Please do not contact or send materials to the school. Please also consider our school's ad content guidelines during the creation of your ad online. All orders must be placed by Friday, January 31.

Join Sally Heilstedt, Dean of Instruction at Lake Washington Institute of Technology, for an interactive talk on making decisions about college and beyond. Sally will also talk about the scope of courses offered by Lake Washington Institute of Technology.

Advocacy in Action

1. Attend WSPTA Focus Day on Monday, February 17

Join us at Focus Day in Olympia to advocate to close the funding gaps and ensure financial stability for schools and other vital issues that impact students around the state! All PTA members in Washington State are welcome. Bring your student with you! This year, Focus Day is taking place across the street from the Capitol at the United Churches of Olympia (110 11th Ave SE, Olympia).

2. Participate in Focus on Advocacy Week: Monday-Friday, February 10-14

During this week and key dates throughout the 2025 legislative session, WSPTA will send out Action Alerts to subscribed members, focused on the "Top 5" legislative issues, with tips for sending emails to legislators. Your voice matters!

3. Advocacy Is Not a One-Day Event; It Is an Everyday Action

And so, we encourage members to continue to stay informed and engaged throughout the year, keeping our efforts focused on the mission. Learn more about WSPTA Advocacy efforts, updates, and our 2025 Legislative Platform HERE.

Find them in the College and Career Center website under the Scholarship Deadlines Calendar and on the Scholarship bulletin board. Be sure to check the requirements for each one and apply to as many as you are eligible for. Scholarships are stackable and they do not affect your financial aid. Here are a couple to share with you:

The Sea Mar Community Health Centers Scholarships are now open! Sea Mar will be awarding $1,000 scholarships to students who are of migrant or seasonal farm worker backgrounds. In addition to this, Sea Mar offers a $2,500 scholarship to students who demonstrate a history of advocacy, responsibility, accountability, and perseverance. The money can be used to cover expenses while they’re enrolled in college such as tuition, food, housing, books, etc.! Please encourage them to take advantage of this opportunity. They can find the application at www.seamar.org/scholarships or under the Scholarship Calendar on the CCC website. The deadline is Tuesday, April 15, 2025. 

Nellie Martin Carmen Scholarship awards promising high school students with financial need. The awards range from $500 to $2,000 a year and scholarships are renewable for four years of college. RHS can select two nominees to apply for the scholarship and requirements and instructions are under the Scholarship calendar’s Friday, February 21 listing. Check it out!

WANIC, the Washington Network for Innovative Careers, is a consortium of seven school districts in the region to the northeast of Seattle, which have been in partnership for over 20 years and share Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs. As a state-approved interdistrict CTE consortium, WANIC's primary mission is to provide quality, diverse, and cost-effective career and technical education for all high school students through interdistrict cooperation.

WANIC Skill Center provides advanced level Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs based on rigorous academic and industry standards preparing students for career and college readiness. WANIC Skill Center programs are delivered through a system of branch campuses in seven participating districts. Member districts include Bellevue, Issaquah, Lake Washington, Mercer Island, Northshore, Riverview, and Snoqualmie Valley. The skill center programs provide dual credits opportunities (both high school and college credit) and/or lead to industry certifications. Priority enrollment period for Full Year 2025-26 programs will open on Tuesday, February 4 at 9am and close on Tuesday, April 15. Enrollment is by lottery and enrollment status will be emailed between Wednesday, April 23 and Wednesday, April 30. After Tuesday, April 15, applications will only be accepted for programs with space available. Full year applications close on Tuesday, July 15 at 3pm. Students can visit the CCC or email Mrs. Wu at rwu@lwsd.org to get help regarding WANIC.
