For companies trying to break into the government market for the first time, past performance can seem a bit like the old chicken-and-egg conundrum. Sometimes it can appear like a company can’t win a government contract without a strong record of past performance–but can’t build a past performance record without contracts! And with the government’s continued movement away from lowest-price, technically acceptable evaluations, past performance seems increasingly important.
But that doesn’t mean the government always has to consider past performance as an evaluation factor. Instead, as a recent GAO bid protest decision confirms, procuring agencies have broad discretion to omit past performance in appropriate cases....

GSA Providing Automatic 180-Day Extension of Expiring Entity Registrations in SAM.gov
The U.S. General Services Administration is working to support implementation of many aspects of the American Rescue Plan Act. GSA’s Integrated Award Environment specifically is working to administer relief for certain entities already registered in SAM.gov in order to do business with the government.
To help reduce burden, there will be a 180-day extension for SAM.gov registrations that have expiration dates ranging between April 1, 2021, and September 30, 2021. This effort is intended as relief for those otherwise required to re-register during that time frame. This does not impact entities registering for the first time during this time period. No action is required on the part of registrants.

How Does Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) Affect Small Businesses?
The first step to learning about the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) is to understand DoD’s mission. The Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification Accreditation Body, also known as the CMMC-AB, "establishes and oversees a qualified, trained, and high-fidelity community of assessors. CMMC-AB also manages the ecosystem and oversee all the entities that can deliver consistent and informative assessments to participating organizations against a defined set of controls/best practices within the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) Program."
The CMMC Model is both created and managed by the Department of Defense (DoD). The CMMC-AB reviews and combines various trusted cybersecurity standards and best practices and uses them across several knowledge levels that range from basic cyber hygiene to advanced. continue at: CMMC

The New Design of beta.SAM.gov is Here
The wait is over! After much hard work, user feedback and helpful suggestions from stakeholders, the new design of beta.SAM.gov has arrived! GSA’s Integrated Award Environment (IAE) unveiled the new look-and-feel of beta.SAM.gov on April 26, 2021, a design offering an enhanced search experience, new landing pages for each domain, as well as a centralized space for help and training resources.
The new design sets the stage for the full integration of SAM.gov into the beta.SAM.gov environment on May 24, 2021. Current users of beta.SAM.gov have roughly a month to become familiar with the new look-and-feel of beta.SAM.gov before the two systems merge.

May 18, 2021
1:00 - 2:30pm
|
|
Do you worry about how to price your services? Do you wonder if all of your costs are covered?
Growing companies in federal contracting face this question all the time. A wrap rate is like a magic formula – unique to your company – that allows you to price low enough to win the contract and yet high enough to be profitable. It’s a magic formula because it may change with every bid, depending on the type of work you are going after, how competitive the market is, and how badly you want to win. Once you learn how the math works, the next challenge is determining your actual wrap rate, now and in future forecasting.
