RI’s Housing Crisis is Real; Help Us Fix It

Do you feel hopeless about the housing crisis in Rhode Island?

I get it; every day, thousands of Rhode Islanders are struggling to find a place to call home. I’m writing this morning to ask if you’ll make addressing the affordable housing crisis a priority by donating to ONE|NB today

Too many families are struggling. Rents are rising, and the rental vacancy rate is falling. Housing production is not keeping pace, and at the same time income inequality is increasing. These factors and more are making renting and homeownership inaccessible to many.

With your help, we can make a difference together.

Many of you have supported ONE|NB in the past, so you know we’ve been at the forefront of the fight to expand affordable housing and foster healthier and more equitable communities. Together we’ve developed hundreds of affordable homes with supportive services.

Thank you! But there is so much more work to do.

I know you understand the urgency, so I hope you’re happy to hear that right now we have nearly 400 homes in various stages of development across Rhode Island. This includes our largest project ever, Center City Apartments in East Providence, which will turn three acres of blighted land into 144 affordable, mixed-income apartments!

Stable housing is a cornerstone of health and wellness.

Here is just some of our work under way:

Architectural renderings of four of our eight affordable-housing developments in the predevelopment stages include, clockwise from top left: Sheridan Village, in Providence; Broad Street Homes, in Central Falls; Center City Apartments, in East Providence; and Steeple & Stone, in Cumberland. Read more about these developments and more.

Housing significantly impacts an individual's physical and mental health and financial stability while strengthening our communities. We continue to convene organizations and residents, advancing community priorities and advocating for systems-level change to ensure our mission is realized.

And that’s why I'm asking for your support today.

Will you make a gift to ONE|NB today to support our work and propel us into 2024?

Let your gift be the catalyst for hope for all who are troubled by what is happening in our community. Whether it’s $40, $100, $1,000, or more, you can make a positive impact on our state’s most pressing crisis by donating today.

The challenges facing our communities can feel daunting, but together we can achieve lasting change. Join us by contributing today!

Warmest wishes for a healthy and peaceful holiday season.

Sincerely,

Jennifer Hawkins
