Good afternoon

Across the state we’re busy paving badly deteriorated sections of road, thanks in large part to the new Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act and. From I-295 to Route 146 to Route 114, we’re working at dozens of locations across the state. Learn more at: www.ridot.net/RIDOTPaving.

Airport Connector, Warwick

Daytime alternating lane closures along Post Road, from Warwick Avenue to Coronado Road, for survey and drainage work are scheduled. We also may have a daytime right lane closure on the Airport Connector West for paving one day next week and shoulder closures are possible for daytime drainage work in the median, Monday-Friday.

Cottrell Bridge, Westerly

As drivers continue to navigate around the closed bridge, crews are working on reconstructing it by prepping for the installation of new abutment and wall footings.

_

Henderson Bridge, East Providence/Providence

Motorists may notice work going on beside the existing bridge, as pier columns begin to rise from the Seekonk River for the new bridge alignment. This does not involve any lane closures; however, East River Street remains closed to vehicular traffic weekdays while we build the new west abutment.

_
Hunts Mill Bridge, East Providence

The Hunts Mill Bridge, carrying Route 114A (Pleasant Street) over the Ten Mile River in East Providence, will remain closed until the end of the year. Demolition is done and the rebuilding process has started. Motorists are following the signed detour around the closed bridge, with police officers from East Providence and Seekonk in place to assist as necessary.

Pawtucket/Central Falls Transit Center

Construction continued with completion of the Providence-bound train platform. We continued the roofing and exterior metal panel system along the elevator towers and pedestrian bridge. We connected the second set of stairs that join the Providence bound platform to the pedestrian bridge. We also begin work on the Transit Emphasis Corridor, a 0.5 mile stretch of dedicated bus and bicycle lanes.

_
Pell Bridge Ramps Phase 2, Newport

Upcoming work will consist of bridge rehabilitation along Route 138 which may require temporary lane shifts along Third Street and JT Connell Highway.  Gas utility relocation work is anticipated along Halsey Street and fence installation is planned along the Newport DPW yard. Drainage and excavation work will be performed at the Malbone Road and Girard Avenue intersection. Crews will continue to work on the shared use path construction along the Newport Secondary Rail Line. Flaggers and police details will be onsite to guide vehicles through the work zones.

_
Reservoir Avenue Railroad Bridge, Providence

We will apply a protective coating to the bridge piers and caps, form and pour the concrete end posts, and ready the bridge beam seats prior to girder installation, currently scheduled for the end of the month. The bridge remains closed to all traffic with a signed detour in place.

_
Safe Routes To School, Warren

The contractor will remove the pile driving equipment at the end of the Warren Bike Path. Other anticipated work will consist of concrete placement for the foundation piles and grading of the footings, weather permitting. Please utilize extra caution along Barker Avenue and along the Warren Bike Path as construction vehicles will be entering and leaving the work zone.

_
Schoolhouse Road Culvert, Warren

The stone bed foundation has been set for the culvert within a cofferdam – an area where river water has been diverted to allow construction. The precast concrete footings for the culvert are scheduled to be delivered to the job site and be set into place early next week. In the following days more precast components for the bridge will be delivered to site and set into place.

_
Washington Bridge, East Providence/Providence

An overnight left lane closure on I-195 East and West, from Broadway to South Main Street, is scheduled for median barrier work and bridge deck repairs.
