A Message from the Superintendent

Dear Ramapo Indian Hills Families,

Spring has sprung, though we can all admit we're anxiously waiting for the warmth to arrive along with it! Fortunately, chilly temperatures do not impact our students' ability to achieve excellence in the classroom. We celebrate our students' creativity and remain grateful for the ways in which you support them as they continue to learn and grow.

Here's hoping you feel the warm glow of pride as you read through this week's newsletter. Thank you for all you do!

With gratitude,

Shauna DeMarco

Superintendent, Ramapo Indian Hills Regional High School District

Upcoming State Assessments: Spring 2026

As we approach the final months of the school year, our students will participate in the New Jersey Student Learning Assessments (NJSLA). These assessments help our educators and families understand how well students are mastering the state standards in English Language Arts (ELA), Mathematics, and Science.

Starting this year, the state is transitioning to the NJSLA-Adaptive (NJSLA-A) format for ELA and Mathematics.

This computer-based format adjusts the difficulty of questions in real-time based on student responses, providing a more tailored and precise assessment of student knowledge.

The Art of the Shine

How do you make a pencil drawing look like chrome? Mrs. Linz’s Drawing 1 students are finding out! Using the precision of the grid method, our Period 3 artists are layering values and sharp highlights to recreate the reflective surface of metallic balloons. It’s a masterclass in light and shadow, resulting in some truly impressive 3D illusions.

The Science of Color: Pointilism

In Mrs. Linz’s Period 5 Painting 1 class, students are slowing down to master the art of Pointillism. This meticulous technique, which gained fame in the late 19th century, uses thousands of tiny, strategically placed dots of color to build a vibrant, cohesive image. Our young artists are currently bringing their own unique designs to life through this patience-testing and rewarding process.

Stars, Stripes, and Software

In the woodshop, Mr. Fazio’s students are taking their woodworking skills to the next level! Using the CNC router, students are designing and carving custom American flags. This project allows them to explore how modern machinery can enhance classic wood processing, giving them the freedom to experiment with complex layouts and creative finishes. While the technology handles the precision cutting, the students' creative designs bring these wooden flags to life, showcasing a perfect harmony of tech and trade.

You can stay up-to-date with the latest sports schedules.
