A Message from the Superintendent | | |
Dear Ramapo Indian Hills Families,
There may still be snow on the ground but the freshness of spring is in the air at Ramapo Indian Hills, as seen in the many accomplishments and meaningful experiences taking place across our district. From students earning OSHA10 certifications and sectional athletic championships, to cultural celebrations for Lunar New Year and service through Habitat for Humanity, our students continue to demonstrate excellence, character, and commitment.
A special thanks goes out to our facilities and custodial teams for the multiple mid-winter refreshes that keep our schools welcoming and vibrant.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support.
With gratitude,
Shauna DeMarco
Superintendent, Ramapo Indian Hills Regional High School District

As part of the Work-Based Learning Program (WBL), seniors meet in class in the morning and learn about the 'World of Work,' and in the afternoon, have the opportunity to go to a paying job, and next year, will also be able to go to an internship, in the FLOW area. One of the Units in WBL focuses on learning about the federal government's Occupational Safety and Health regulations and in the process, earning an OSHA10 certification. We are very pleased to share that all of our Ramapo WBL students have earned their certificate. As a result, no matter what field of work they go into, this certificate will be a valuable addition to their resume and job applications...and is valid for the rest of their working lives. Congratulations to these seniors on this accomplishment!

The Ramapo Girls Winter Track Team is now the Group 3 - North 1 State Sectional Champions! They’ve earned this title two years in a row and broke the sectional meet scoring record earlier this month.
Nothing unlucky about it, the Ramapo High School Cheer Team was triumphant on Friday, February 13th! These hard-working cheerleaders won the Big North Cheer Championship held at Clifton High School.
Huge milestone achievement by Ramapo Senior Toni Pernetti (#15) - she scored her 1,000th career point on February 17th vs Hackensack High School.
Big congratulations to Ramapo Wrestling and Coach Bill DiMauro on the team earning their Group 3-North 1 State Sectional Championship title in their victory vs River Dell on February 18th.
| | Indian Hills Sports Wrap Up | |
The Indian Hills Dance Team competed at the NJCDA State Competition and finished in 2nd Place for both Pom and Jazz last weekend. The Flag Football Team had the Head Coach and 2 representatives attend Media Day at MetLife Stadium last Friday. Our Winter season sports are wrapping up, but the NJSIAA Tournaments for both boys and girls basketball as about to begin this week. Congratulations and good luck!
| Ramapo Gets a Mid-Winter Spruce | | |
During the well-deserved break, a dedicated team was hard at work giving Ramapo High School a spruce!
A huge shout-out and thank you to our incredible custodial staff, ITC team, Kristen, and Jenn, who worked tirelessly to complete a major mid-winter facelift. The team was busy purging closets, rearranging furniture, and freshening up our space with newly painted hallways and ceilings.
Highlights of the transformation include:
- Room 216: Completely transformed and ready for action.
- Senior Commons: Cleaned and cleared to open up the view, creating a brighter space for our seniors.
- New Facilities: We are thrilled to announce the grand opening of two brand-new bathrooms!
From the Senior Commons to the newly painted halls, the building is glowing. We are so grateful to the team for their hard work in making RHS an even better place to learn and grow. Welcome back, everyone—we hope you enjoy the "new" view! You can view more pictures of the spruced up areas of the school on the district website.
| | Learning Mahjong for Lunar New Year | | |
The Year of the Horse began on February 17th. In observance of that auspicious cultural event, the Ramapo Chinese class celebrated by learning to play Mahjong. A professional Mahjong teacher came in to teach the students how to play.
Meanwhile, our talented musicians in the Ramapo Orchestra performed the first movement of a multi-movement work called "Chinese Folk Song Suite”. This song, entitled Fengyang is a celebratory piece from the Anhui province of China. The song’s popularity stretches throughout the country, especially around Lunar New Year. Visit the district YouTube channel to hear the music and see the photos taken during the Mahjong lesson.
| | The Indian Hills Interact Club stayed true to its mission of "Service Above Selft" by volunteering during the winter break. These photos were taken during a recent effort with the Habitat for Humanity Organization. Students took part in building skills, face painting, as well as arts and crafts activities. | Eating Disorders Awareness | | |
This week, our district observed National Eating Disorder Awareness Week (NEDAW). This year’s theme, "Every BODY Belongs," reminds us that eating disorders don’t have a "look"—they affect people of all backgrounds, genders, and body types.
