A Message from the Superintendent

Dear Ramapo Indian Hills Community,

As we close out May and step into June, we reflect on the progress you've made, the goals you've accomplished, and the experiences you've had this year. Students, take pride in how much you’ve grown, and look ahead to the exciting final month that lies ahead!

June is always a busy time, and while summer is just around the corner, it’s important to finish strong. There are still opportunities to showcase what you've learned, complete your projects, and put forth your best effort as we wrap up the year.

It’s not just about finishing—it’s about finishing with pride in your work and in yourself. You’ve come so far, so keep pushing, stay focused, and finish this year with the same dedication and commitment that has brought you here.

Let’s make this last month truly count!

Cheers to an amazing final stretch together!

Yours in Education,

Shauna DeMarco

Driving Seatbelt Safety

The"Click Clack Front and Back" team from Indian Hills High School competed in the 15th Annual 2025 U Got Brains Champion Schools Program at Great Adventure in Jackson. Their campaign won second place, making them one of the three Grand Prize Winners two years in a row!

This year’s project focused on legislative advocacy to make rear seatbelt use a primary offense in New Jersey, building on momentum for Bills S2125/A433. Students traveled to Trenton, met with state legislators, and secured new co-sponsors, reinforcing their commitment to statewide change.

They also expanded their focus to include distracted driving, pedestrian and bicyclist safety, and cannabis-impaired driving, reaching over 700 students through assemblies, PSAs, simulations, and creative schoolwide events. With strong community partnerships, student leadership, and data-driven impact, Indian Hills continues to drive meaningful traffic safety change.

During the Winter season, they won the N1G3 State Sectional Championship.

Living History Lesson

Ms. Johnson’s USII classes hosted Mr. Harry Hagan, a Navy veteran who served in Vietnam. They learned about his experiences enlisting, serving, and returning to civilian life. Mr. Hagan stressed the importance of teamwork, voting, and serving your country.

The Memory Project

It's wonderful to share that students from Ramapo and Indian Hills recently took part in The Memory Project, an incredible international youth art program! Throughout the past school year, budding artists in Mr. Quirk’s Honors Art and Drawing 2 classes, Mrs. Batti Valovina’s Honors Art, and Lauren Gibson's Painting 2 devoted their talents to creating beautiful portraits. These aren't just any artworks; they were crafted as special, heartfelt gifts for children living in orphanages in India.

The impact of their creativity is truly global! A heartwarming video captures the moment these stunning portraits were delivered, showcasing just how deeply the RIH art students' pieces have touched lives around the world. It's a beautiful testament to the power of art to connect, bring joy, and spread kindness across continents!
