A Message from the Superintendent

Dear Ramapo Indian Hills Families,

This edition of RIH Highlights & Happenings celebrates the energy and creativity that define our schools—from student artwork brightening district spaces to championship wins, musical achievements, and real-world learning experiences. As we head into this short school week and the season of gratitude, I’m especially thankful for our students, staff, families, and community partners who make Ramapo Indian Hills such a vibrant place to learn and grow.

It's a short week, so I hope you can take some time to relax, read, and reflect on our recent successes, and look ahead to the exciting opportunities still to come.

Warmly,

Shauna DeMarco

Superintendent, Ramapo Indian Hills Regional High School District

Quick Change Art Swap

Student artwork beautifies the walls of the board of education offices. Our prolific students create so many wonderful pieces that the art department swaps them out a few times during a single school year! We thought it would be fun and interesting to let you get a behind-the-scenes look at the process of taking down dozens of original pieces of art, swapping them out for new ones, and hanging them all up again. Thanks go out to the students for creating beautiful works of art and to Lisa Higbie, Natalie Finnedt, and Kimberly DeGooyer for their hard work in carefully and quickly making the swap happen. Enjoy this fun video!

Work-Based Learning

The Work-Based Learning Program offers Ramapo and Indian Hills seniors a blend of academic and real-world employment experiences. This unique opportunity combines required coursework with a "World of Work" class in the morning, followed by valuable paid, real-world employment in the afternoon. Over the past few years, our dedicated students have gained hands-on experience at more than 25 local businesses across the FLOW area. Thank you to our local partners for providing these invaluable opportunities and sharing their expertise!

Five Times in a Row

The Ramapo Boys Soccer Team achieved an incredible victory, winning the Bergen County Championship on Saturday, November 1st, against Bergen Catholic with a score of 2-0. Ramapo senior Caden O'Connell shone brightly, scoring both goals. This triumph marks their fifth consecutive win in the Bergen County Tournament! A heartfelt congratulations to Head Coach Evan Baumgarten and his dedicated team, who are also proudly sitting as the #1 seed in the upcoming NJSIAA state tournament.

Making Music

A huge congratulations goes out to the talented singers from our district who successfully auditioned for the prestigious 2026 Bergen County Chorus! Eight students were selected into the chorus, which chooses 30 students per voice part (Soprano, Alto, Tenor, and Bass) out of more than 300 who auditioned. These dedicated students will now embark on a rigorous schedule of rehearsals culminating in performances with the Bergen County Chorus in January 2026.

The Indian Hills students are (L to R) freshman tenor Reji Poikayil, sophomore soprano London Tyler, junior alto Seulgi Park, and freshman alto Avery Cruz.

The Ramapo students are (L to R) sophomore soprano Maya Los, junior alto Maya Stoker, junior tenor Ryan Conlon, sophomore soprano Juliana Costabile.

And the Winner Is...

This year's top prize for best Trunk or Treat booth goes to the Indian Hills Theater Company (IHTC).

This is their fourth consecutive year winning the competition!

Congratulations to them!
