A Message from the Superintendent

Dear Ramapo Indian Hills Families,

Once again, we have an embarrassment of riches in celebrating the many ways our students are growing—not just academically, but also as responsible and engaged members of our community. From student government representatives taking their oaths to uphold district policies to initiatives that promote safe driving and civic awareness, and efforts to embody a spirit of respect, our young leaders are stepping up with integrity and purpose.

Whether they're volunteering locally, participating in service projects, or simply showing up for one another in everyday moments, our students are learning that responsibility and connection go hand in hand. These values are not just taught—they're lived, and they’re strengthened by the example and support of our families. And from what we see in this newsletter edition, they help forge long-lasting connections!

To all our parents and guardians: thank you. Your encouragement, involvement, and partnership make this work possible. Together, we’re shaping a culture where students feel empowered to lead, serve, and grow.

Keep up the great work!

Warmly,

Shauna DeMarco

Week of Respect

Each October, our district observes the Week of Respect - a dedicated time to foster a positive and inclusive school environment. This effort works to raise awareness and prevent harassment, intimidation, and bullying (HIB) while promoting a supportive and welcoming atmosphere where everyone feels valued and safe. Showing how much you value each other on a daily basis goes a long way toward keeping our schools safe and welcoming for all.

Thank you to everyone who participated in the activities to show outward signs of kindness and respect, and for your leadership. It truly makes a difference!

Students Stepping Up

At the September 29th Board of Education meeting, we proudly recognized our Alternate Student Government Representatives as they officially took the Oath to follow the Board of Education policies and fulfill their important role as Student Representatives to the Board. These dedicated students have committed to serving as the voice of their peers, supporting informed decision-making, and representing the student body with integrity and responsibility. Congratulations to our alternates as they step into this leadership role!

A Future So Bright

An annual tradition took place on the Ramapo High School campus bright and early. This year, 115 members of the Ramapo High School Senior Class of 2026 gathered for their traditional sunrise welcome event - getting to see the sun rise together.

Our winter sports programs will begin accepting registrations this month. Scan the QR codes to access the health forms needed to participate!

A Very Ramapo Reunion

The Ramapo High School Class of 2000 held its 25th high school reunion at Swingers NoMad in NYC. The reunion chairs, Nicole Caldwell, Julie Powers Lurie, Michelle Lane Burgess, and Michaël P. Madigan, proudly reported that 100 alumni attended, an impressive turnout that speaks to the strong friendships created at Ramapo High School. Many also brought guests or significant others, and Ramapo teachers who remain connected to this class attended.

Congratulations to all who enjoyed this celebration of the ties that bind!

You can stay up-to-date with the latest sports schedules.
