A Message from the Superintendent

Dear Ramapo Indian Hills Families,

It finally feels like fall, with crisp air and vibrant colors, and our school community continues to shine brightly. Across our district, our young people are learning, growing, and finding community connection.

With gratitude for the many inspiring student initiatives and cherished traditions, such as the Holiday Festival, there’s so much to celebrate. Let’s keep the momentum going and continue building a school culture rooted in clarity, connection, and collaboration. Here’s to a fantastic season ahead!

Warmly,

Shauna DeMarco

Superintendent, Ramapo Indian Hills Regional High School District

Communication is Key at Annual School Board Convention

At the 2025 NJSBA Workshop, Superintendent Shauna DeMarco and Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Articulation Darren Groh presented “Communication: The Cornerstone for Stability and the Catalyst for Success.” The session emphasized how clear, consistent, and collaborative communication fosters trust, alignment, and stability across schools, districts, and communities. Using real examples from the Ramapo Indian Hills Regional High School District, they demonstrated how intentional communication strengthens culture and operations, particularly during times of change or crisis. Attendees explored the district’s Four Pillars of Communication—Clarity, Consistency, Connection, and Collaboration—and reflected on practical ways to apply these principles in their own districts.

National Teen Driver Safety Week

Our Driver’s Education Teachers utilized great resources to simulate distracted and impaired driving for their lessons this week (National Teen Driver Safety Week).

Each activity emphasized the importance of safe driving by offering students the opportunity to experience how difficult basic tasks (besides driving a simulator) can be when impaired (BAC Goggles) and distracted (Texting and Moving).

Thank you to the IHHS security team, including Paul Stettner and Rich Osbourne, and the Oakland Police Dept for lending a hand. Special thanks to Mrs. Fackelman, IHHS Lead Health Teacher, for organizing the event. Look for more pictures and information on our Instagram and other social media platforms!

An Annual Tradition of Giving

Indian Hills students host the Holiday Festival each year for the children of Oasis, an organization based in Paterson that offers support to low-income families. At last year's Holiday Festival, 125 students enjoyed crafts, games, and food, and received gifts from Santa and Mrs. Claus. We had support from 60 Indian Hills students who helped run the event.

This year's Holiday Festival will take place on December 5th. It would not be possible without a significant amount of work and considerable financial resources. If you are in a position to help out, take a look at the event's Amazon Wishlist. Thank you in advance for your support!
