Cast with Charlotte D'Amboise

The Indian Hills Theater Company welcomed two-time Tony-nominated actress, Charlotte D’Amboise. She is currently in the leading role of Roxie in the Broadway show, Chicago. Charlotte D’Amboise led the actors in a 4-hour workshop that was an invaluable opportunity!! This truly was a once-in-a-lifetime experience for the actors and actresses of the Indian Hills Theater Company. Within these few hours, students not only had the opportunity to ask questions and gain feedback from a Broadway star, but the cast performed various numbers in full makeup, hair, and dance attire. Ms. Kim Marino coordinated with the ITC Department and our student Heads of Tech to bring light and sound to the stage. Needless to say, the cast was beyond excited for this amazing opportunity.

Grow and Give

Congratulations to the UPSMR Juniors who placed first in the statewide 2022 New Jersey Educational Computing Cooperative (NJECC) Design Thinking Competition.  Students in Ms. Murphy’s UPSMR Research Projects class designed innovations to meet challenges that arose due to Covid.  UPSMR students presented all of their ideas locally through an idea pitch day and then collaborated as a class to continue revision work on the final submission from the class, “Give and Grow” presented by Christine Peng.  Students designed an educational and gardening campaign to meet the needs of families that have experienced employment instability and food insecurity due to the impacts of Covid.

The project was submitted by Ms. Ashley Murphy on behalf of her Indian Hills High School students Joseph Amoruso, Nina Buchakjian, Catherine Cilingiryan, Joshua Fishman, Tara Flynn, Annabel Han, Deniz Kalkandelen, Lauren Lim, Christine Peng, and Selin Uygun. This year’s challenge was to showcase one local community's silver lining in solving a local problem caused by the pandemic using Stanford University’s design thinking process.

The project entitled "Grow and Give" was selected as the 2021-22 winner by judges after evaluating several entries from around the state using a rigorous rubric and was recognized at the annual NJECC State Educational Technology Conference held on March 8th. The projects also appear on the following website.

NJECC is a 35-year-old not-for-profit organization with over 100 member K-12 school districts and is directed by a Board of Trustees and advised by an advisory board made up of practicing K-12 educators from its member districts. NJECC's vision is to Lead, Inspire, and Transform Education through Technology. NJECC's mission is to create opportunities for the sharing of ideas, collaboration, networking, and professional development that support New Jersey educators in creating innovative and transformative learning environments using technology. NJECC is the New Jersey COSN and ISTE Affiliate.

Please join us in congratulating our students on this impressive work and recognition.
