Executive Director's Message
|
|
Right around the time our world began to return to mostly normal, RIHEBC moved its offices to 33 Broad Street. Relocation trials and tribulations notwithstanding, it is a lovely new space and I look forward to showing it off to board members and guests. Looking back on pre-pandemic board meetings, we always had a great crowd. As you know, I like to refer to this crowd as the peanut gallery and, boy, do I look forward to seeing the peanut gallery again.
That said, many of us are still understandably cautious about in-person gatherings. So, we are configuring our new board room to enable hybrid meetings. All are welcome to attend in person, but you will also have the option to attend via video-conferencing. It will be a hard-fought battle between our collective Zoom fatigue, our desire to see each other, and the unquestionable convenience of doing a Zoom meeting in the comfort of your own home or office.
On another note, if you are not already aware, we continue to be in a historically low interest rate environment. I would be happy to have my financial advisory team take a look at your debt to see if there is an opportunity to secure debt service savings. Some budgets continue to be challenged by pandemic-related expenses, so now could be a very good time for some budgetary relief from lower debt payments. Please give me a call.
Finally, the RIHEBC board voted to approve a grant program in fiscal year 2022 and delegated to me the task of determining where the need for grant funds is greatest. Please be on the look-out for a survey to help me with this determination.
Hope to see you soon.
--Kim Mooers
