Hello RIMS Washington Chapter Members and Supporters!

As our programming year has come to a close, I’d like to thank our 2022-2023 Board Officers, Directors, Chairs, and Committees for their commitment and passion to the success of the RIMS WA Chapter. With the Board’s hard work and dedication, we’ve accomplished several large goals:

• Successfully resumed the Education Forum. The last in-person Education Forum was in 2019!
• Provided opportunities to give-back with a Food Lifeline volunteer event and YWCA Seattle holiday gift-giving.
• Gathered for an in-person Risk Manager Roundtable, the first since February 2020.
• Shared both in-person and virtual educational and networking programming opportunities to meet the needs of our members and supporters.
• Re-launched our Rising Risk Professional (RRP) group with a networking event.

I’m excited to serve as President again for the 2023-2024 programing year and look forward to meeting with the Board in July at our annual planning retreat. You can learn more about your 2023-2024 Board members in this Newsletter.

The Chapter is looking for volunteers to participate on the Board and on various Committees! We have a need to expand our Programs and Education Forum committee this next year. If you want to contribute to our educational event topics and help source speakers, please contact me here!

What’s your favorite local business and why? Great Notion Brewery – the atmosphere is relaxed; there is a large outdoor patio and a good selection of beers.

What is your favorite local business and why: Street Bean Coffee - I love this company because I love coffee and they have good coffee! However, what I love more is their mission. Street Bean hires, trains, mentors and upskills local youth who are experiencing housing instability or homelessness for a myriad of reasons, usually beyond their control. Streetbean provides them necessary job skills to help them get out of the cycle of poverty and reconnect them to job opportunities with a hope that the skills they learn will be a catalyst to future successful employment.

What is your favorite local business and why: As a new mom, I am really loving Little Bipsy based out of Everett, WA. The baby/children clothing is the cutest and designed by a mom from the PNW. The business is female-owned and I have always had a great customer service experience at their store in Edmonds.

What’s your favorite local business and why? We love our local neighborhood bodega, the Little Store at Richmond Beach. They always seem to have what we need and make incredible homemade kimchee and scones! No website but you can visit them at 2002 NW 196th St in Shoreline on your way to Richmond Beach.

What is your favorite local business and why: Pho Mignon in Kirkland. My parents had a Chinese/Vietnamese restaurant growing up and it reminds me of good brewed Pho broth! And about the only place where you can get Nem Nuong (a Vietnamese sausage of sorts).

This is a sweet treat to enjoy.

I’ve always felt they make outdoor sports approachable and fun!
