Shaping Our Future Through Connection

President's Message

Hello RIMS Washington Chapter Members and Supporters!

After four long years, our in-person Education Forum returned and was a huge success! Attendees were able to find time to connect with one another and learn from our speakers. The morning kicked off with a panel of Women Risk Manager All-Stars and set the tone for the remainder of the day with sessions on ESG, Parametric Products, the Property Insurance Market, Wildfire in the PNW, and Claim Strategies to name a few. A big thank you to our speakers, sponsors, and the Chapter planning committee for a successful Education Forum. Check out some pictures below!

We have some exciting programs including a risk manager roundtable, field trip, and social networking event planned over the next couple of months before heading out on summer break. For more information on our upcoming monthly educational programming, please visit the Programs section of the newsletter.

We are looking for volunteers to participate on the Board and various Committees!  If you have event topic ideas or know of some engaging speakers, our programs and education committees would love to have you contribute to their teams! If you are interested in contributing to the success of our Chapter, please contact me here.

If you’re not on our mailing list, you can sign-up on our Chapter Website or connect with us on LinkedIn.  We appreciate any questions, feedback, or suggestions that you may have. Please contact me here or any of our board members.

I want to thank our members and our 2023 Chapter Sponsors: AIGAONAXA XL, Chubb, FM Global, Liberty MutualSedgwick, and Zurich. Your support of our Chapter makes everything we do possible.

Programs

The RIMS WA Education Forum was held on March 16th at the Washington Athletic Club. We thank everyone who attended and made this day a great success. The morning kicked off with a panel of women all-stars in risk management. That session was followed with a lively discussion on how insurers are looking at ESG, an emerging risk and popular topic with underwriters. We had two sets of concurrent sessions with topics to cover everyone’s interest and we wrapped up the day with a very informative session on wildfire risk and climate change. Sponsors, speakers, and attendees mingled during the networking lunch and celebratory happy hour to close out the day. We even had a booming rendition of Happy Birthday for board member, Sean Hisey. It was a wonderful day! We thank our sponsors, speakers, planning committee, board of directors, and everyone who attended. We are already looking forward to Ed Forum 2024.
