Joan Ecker, retired Business Officer of the Diocese of Albany, died on Tuesday, January 15, 2020. Joan served the diocese faithfully for 28 years. She served three bishops: Bishop Ball, Bishop Herzog, and Bishop Love and many treasurers. She earned the respect of the clergy and laity as she handled their various requests from parish assessments to benefit decisions and developed friendships with many of them over the years. Her attention to detail was also quietly on display during the past two decades as she oversaw the annual Diocesan Convention altar guild in preparing for two Eucharists in two days for over a thousand communicants each year.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2020 at 11am at the Cathedral of All Saints in Albany. Calling hours will be held that same morning beginning at 10am.
Rest eternal grant unto her, O Lord; let light perpetual shine upon her.
Almighty God, Father of all mercies and giver of comfort: Deal graciously, we pray, with all who mourn; that, casting all their care on you, they may know the consolation of your love; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
