JFS RISE is excited to announce that we will be welcoming a family of four on Tuesday, October 16. Travelling from Nairobi, Kenya, this family consists of a couple, originally from the Democratic Republic of Congo, and their two daughters (3 years old and 1 year old). Help RISE facilitate this family's successful resettlement by giving them as warm a welcome as every family that came before them.
How You Can Help:
JFS has secured a two-bedroom apartment in New Castle for this family and, due to your generous donations throughout the year, we already have many of the items needed. There are a few items still missing and we will be in touch ASAP with a final list of needs.

VOLUNTEER!
  • Apartment Set-up will begin next week.
  • Help with other essential, post-arrival tasks like cultural orientation, transportation, mentoring, and more.
  • Attend a RISE Volunteer Training if you haven't already.

Contact Lourena with your availability or for more information about how and when you can get involved.

  • 1 Family from Afghanistan
  • 1 Family from Ghana/Central African Republic
  • 1 Family from Pakistan
  • 4 Families from Tanzania/Democratic Republic of Congo
  • 1 Family from Kenya!

New Homes, New Jobs, New Schools...
  • While waiting for her nursing credentials to transfer from Pakistan, Asia is working as a Dietary Aid at Christiana Hospital. She also just earned her driver's license with the help of RISE volunteers!
  • Asia's son, Joshwa, just began 1st grade.
  • Acastela & Pathy, from Ghana, just began full-time positions at the Marriott in Newark.
  • Victoria, Acastela & Pathy's 4-year-old daughter, is adjusting well and spending time at pre-school practicing her ABCs.
  • Amida, from Tanzania, recently began a full-time position at Forman Mills and her son, Aime, just started 2nd grade.
  • Between her crafting projects and English classes, grandmother Siyapata is helping her newly arrived family of 10 from Tanzania settle comfortably and adjust to life in Delaware.

Thanks to everyone who made these successful resettlements possible and who have helped these families achieve such progress & success! Every minute or dollar donated to RISE goes a long way.
