State Police Arrest Four Motorists for   
Suspected Impaired Driving in Less Than Five Hours  
Urge motorists to call 911 on suspected drunk drivers 
 
The Rhode Island State Police today report they charged four motorists with suspected impaired driving during a five-hour period last night.   
 
Woman with BAC three times the legal limit arrested with two children in her car  
 
Annique Harushimana, age 24, of 104 Sayles Street, Woonsocket, Rhode Island was arrested on Friday, August 28, 2020, at 10:57 PM for Driving Under Influence of Intoxicating Liquor or Drugs – Child Passenger Under the age of 13. Harushimana was arrested when Troopers stopped her car on Route 146 in Lincoln after receiving several reports of an erratic driver. She was allegedly operating the vehicle with no lights. The two young children in the vehicle were released into the custody of their father  and DCYF was contacted and investigating. State Police allege her blood alcohol content was .277% and .271%, more than three times the legal limit.  
 
The State Police urge anyone who sees a suspected impaired driver to call 911. 
 
Block Island Enhanced Enforcement Continues  
 
Troopers arrested a New York man on Block Island during their enhanced traffic safety enforcement effort. This is the second weekend where Troopers are assisting officers from the New Shoreham Police Department with strict traffic enforcement on the island.  
 
Troopers and members of the New Shoreham Police Department arrested Sam Kretschmer, age 50, of 38 Crosby Street, Apt.# 2R, New York, New York on Friday, August 28, 2020, at 10:00 PM, for Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicating Liquor or Drugs (BAC - .05%, Phase 2-.106%). The arrest was the result of a motor vehicle stop on Old Town Road in New Shoreham.   
 
Additional impaired driving arrests include:  
 
David Miller, age 65, of 3 Damato Drive, Stonington, Connecticut was arrested Friday, August 28, 2020, at 10:12 PM for Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicating Liquor or Drugs (BAC unknown) and Refusal to Submit to a Chemical Test. The arrest was the result of Troopers investigating a motor vehicle crash on Route 6 in the town of Johnston.  
 
Angel Cruz, age 30, of 17 Kipling Street, Apt. #2, Providence, Rhode Island was arrested Saturday, August 29, 2020, at 2:20 AM for Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicating Liquor or Drugs (BAC unknown) and Refusal to Submit to a Chemical Test. The arrest was the result of a motor vehicle stop on Route 95 in the City of Providence.  
 
All subjects were arraigned and released from custody.  
 
The Rhode Island State Police have increased impaired driving enforcement significantly with the addition of the Traffic Safety Unit, a collaboration with RIDOT/ Office of Highway Safety and funded by a federal grant through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
