A Note from the Rice & Larpenteur Alliance

Businesses and residents in the neighborhood have reported visits from federal immigration enforcement agents (ICE) over the past year, and with greater frequency and intensity over the last few weeks.

The Rice & Larpenteur Alliance believes immigrants are essential to our community and we stand with our employees, employers, and neighbors as they confront unreasonable and aggressive enforcement tactics.

Since our beginning, the Rice & Larpenteur Alliance has believed that our neighborhood's diversity is our greatest strength. We are, and have always been, a community built and sustained by immigrants. We encourage everyone in our community to learn their rights and seek support if needed.

The National Employment Law Project's Guide for Employers: What to Do if Immigration Comes to Your Workplace and Immigration Resources from the City of Saint Paul are a few resources to start with.

If you can, we also encourage you to shop local and support our immigrant-owned businesses whenever possible. RLA will continue to monitor the situation. If you have any information to share that would be helpful, please email us here

Vote for Rice Street Banner Design

We are excited to invite community members to participate in selecting the new Rice Street banner design. We are refreshing banners from University Avenue to Larpenteur over the next few years, timed with road construction. This projet is made possible with funding from the Saint Paul Commercial Corridor Organization Assistance Program funding. Your vote will play an important role in shaping the visual identity of Rice Street and reflecting the character of our community. All banner design votes must be submitted by January 15.
