Dear RLMS Families:
Welcome to the 2014-2015 school year!
I am looking forward to meeting parents who are able to attend the opening PTSA meeting on Tuesday, September 9th at 7 PM. It will be a wonderful opportunity to begin our journey together and share our vision of the middle school student.
I would like to give my ongoing "pitch" in the use of Infinite Campus. This is our primary mode of communication of grades, attendance and important updates as the year begins. As the school year starts, it is critical that you make sure you frequently log in to Infinite Campus so that you receive messages from the school and gather information about your child's academic progress. You can find help with this process at our district website.
Parents, please be sure to review your household emergency contact information and please make sure your account settings are complete. Middle School students can log in with their Fairfield Public Schools network username and password.
All student schedules are now available through the student and parent portal. Students: if you are having difficulty with your password or username, you must wait until your return to school to reset it.
Parents who are having difficulty should email reghelp@fairfieldschools.org and we will respond as soon as possible, normally within two business days. Students are directed NOT to email this address. Additional support regarding Infinite Campus can be found at the following link:
http://fairfieldschools.org/parent_resources_infinite_campus.htm
Finally, I wanted to provide you with some guidelines on "Who to Contact" when you have a concern or need clarification. Teacher emails are available on the RLMS webpage. Please note that all school emails are:
First Initial, Last name@fairfieldschools.org. For example, mtiley@fairfieldschools.org
- Contact the Classroom Teacher with questions about:
- What is happening in the classroom.
- Homework, student progress, specific grading questions. Remember...much of this will be available on Infinite Campus.
- Any concern that a parent has regarding an aspect of the students' classroom experiences should always be directed initially to the classroom teacher.
- Contact the Crew Liaison with questions about:
- Crew policies - interdisciplinary activities
- Contact the School Counselor with questions about:
- Overall academic performance
- Contact the Curriculum Leaders with questions about:
- Curriculum content and requirements
- Contact the Dean with questions about:
- General school safety concerns
- Contact the Principal or Assistant Principals with questions about:
- Special Education testing, placement and instruction
- School-wide communications
- Any items not listed elsewhere
Our dedicated and talented teachers have spent the past week getting their classrooms ready and preparing for the upcoming year. By the time you receive this message, the year will be underway! The faculty and staff are looking forward to a great year. Do not hesitate to contact your child's crew liaison, teacher, school counselor, or myself if you have any questions or need any additional support throughout the year.
GO BULLDOGS!!

And So It Begins!
Welcome to the 2014-15 school year at Roger Ludlowe Middle School!
The PTSA has a great group of volunteers ready to bring educational programs, social events and service opportunities to the RLMS community this year. What exactly do we do? We cook for Operation Hope, we bring authors and artists to the school, we offer teacher grants, we fund and help run 8th grade graduation events, we organize a Family Picnic, a Basketball Bash and many Staff Appreciation days ... and that's just a sampling of all that the RLMS PTSA does each year.
Please join us at our first meeting on Tuesday, September 9th at 7 PM in the RLMS Cafeteria. The first half hour will be an opportunity to socialize and to meet and greet our Principal, Meg Tiley. We will start the business portion of the meeting promptly at 7:30 PM.
Beyond that, here are just a few dates to remember:
Open Houses - Wednesday, September 10th at 7 p.m. Please stop by our table in the front lobby before you head to your child's Homeroom (or on your way out). We'd love to meet you and possibly get you involved in one of our committees. Plus, you can fill out our Membership Form to join the PTSA and purchase some sweet RLMS Spiritwear! Bring your checkbook or cash!
Family Picnic - See below for the details, but join us on Thursday, September 18th from 5-7 for music, food and fun!
Have a great Labor Day weekend!

2) PTSA Directory form - This explains how to update your information online (and how to grant permission for your information to be used in the RLMS Directory). Every member of the PTSA will receive a copy of the Directory in the early fall.
3) Volunteer form - The PTSA needs you! Please print this out, review the exciting list of committees, and check off any that appeal to you. We can always use more help.
4) We have also put online a copy of the Spiritwear
options for this year! We suggest you take a look at the document, share it with your children, and come bearing cash or a check on the night of the RLMS Open House, Wednesday, September 10. There will be other opportunities during the year to purchase the items, but why not start the year with some cool RLMS swag?

How Do I Get My PTSA Membership and Other Forms to the Right Person?
Your child may turn PTSA forms in to their home room teacher. Please place them in an envelope marked "Attention: RLMS PTSA" with your child's name on it. Make sure the envelope contains both the completed form (get membership form HERE) and make checks payable to "RLMS PTSA". Joining the PTSA costs $20 for the year if you join as a family or $10 for individual memberships.
