WHAT: The Boulder County Commission is holding a hearing July 6, 2023 (1pm) on the extinguishment of a 40-year old conservation easement on County land that would allow the development of a densely packed, uninspiring subdivision on land that would then be annexed into Longmont. KEEP AIRPORT ROAD ENVIRONMENTAL & SAFE (“KARES”), a group of residents along Airport Road in Longmont, is fighting to protect this conservation easement.
After KARES appealed the County’s attempt to withhold the information, it was discovered that the developer is paying $2.3 million to the County’s open space fund to terminate the conservation easement.
WHO: Members of the Boulder County community who want to keep the land conservation easement near Longmont
HOW TO HELP: Submit comments (planner@bouldercounty.org) and attend the Commission hearing on this short-sighted plan to extinguish the 40-year old Kanemoto Estates conservation easement.
