PICK YOUR PARTNER--BEAT THE PRO
1 BB of 2 (NET--75% Handicap)
LOTS of SUN and LOTS of CHILL---but plenty of avid golfers looking to "BEAT THE PRO"!!!! BOB RIDGE & CHRIS SKEADOS worked hard to protect the Club's reputation while providing members with a VERY fair challenge--they shot EVEN PAR in the 1 BB of 2 event"!! There were 20 teams looking to "Beat The Pro" and 9 were successful:
PHIL PLETCHER & JIM VANDEVEN | 9 UNDER |
STEVE JOHNSON & JIM COVERT | 8 UNDER |
FRANCIS MAYHEW & JACK MCKENZIE | 8 UNDER |
GEORGE BYRNES & RALPH ANGER | 8 UNDER |
JOHN MISIAK & BUTCH CODI | 8 UNDER |
RICH GEIGER & GARY THOMAS | 7 UNDER |
TOM RUDOPH & JOE BAK | 4 UNDER |
TERRY WALSH & ROY HAYTHORN | 3 UNDER |
TED GARTON & CHARLIE ALLGOOD | 2 UNDER |
Phil Pletcher & Jim Vandeven
In addition to the "Beat The Pro" wagers there was also prize money awarded for flight winners and Low Gross "shooters"--check-out the complete results on Golf Genius!
While we had BOB & CHRIS captive, they drew this week's LUCKY CHIP--it was #85 belonging to BOB EISERMAN--"BELIEVE IT OR NOT", this is the second time this year that his # has been drawn--statistically outrageous!!
First drawing had BOB "M-I-A"--this time HE PLAYED and is now $100 Smackers richer!!!!
Chris Skeados and Bob Ridge
Next week is RMGA CUP #2--a "LOW NET" affair--REMEMBER--even if you registered for the CUP previously, you must still register on Golf Genius for this specific event (Feb. 10 ). We had previously planned for a luncheon & Blackjack tournament following golf BUT COVID cautiousness has imposed it's will--It will be GOLF & FUN only on the 10th!!
This year's "OLD PAL" competition is HEATING-UP---several matches are now in the books with the following teams victorious in round 1:
BRIAN LOVE & LARRY JONES
DON POOLE & WAYNE SANDERS
ROY HAYTHORN & CRAIG OLSON
GEORGE BYRNES & TERRY HILDEBRAND
For those interested, the brackets are available on the registration page in GOLF GENIUS on the home page of the "OLD PAL".
Holes in One have been scarce this season BUT "Just on Time", STEVE MULLER added to his collection of ACEs. STEVE took #5 to the woodshed for the 2nd time, launching a 9 iron 120 yards from the GOLD tees--he has also bagged Holes #7 and #5 to bring the Riverwood total to 4. He'll be looking for #16 to surrender prior to season's--crunching a softball hundreds of feet & collecting ACEs has become a favorite pastime!!
Riverwood nature has begun to reveal it's magnificence -- it was quite a treat to find the "first of the season" NEW SAND CRANE FAMILY hanging out on #17--this may be the first time a family is nesting in the preserve adjacent to #17 and behind #16---in the past, the "CLUB DRIVE ROOKERY" has typically served as home base for these guys!! Not certain I've ever seen the chicks this minute--let's hope they (and we) are blessed with a safe and care-free upbringing--always a treat to watch them grow!!
In contrast, this "grouping" of WOODSTORKS, appears totally disinterested in our golfers passing by--actually a "bit arrogant" I thought! Not the most "stunning" wildlife creation while grounded--perhaps one of the most majestic when in the air--we are fortunate to have them in SW FL since their habitat in the US is limited to coastal GA and our area.
Please join me in "Welcoming Home" BILL EVANS & ROGER GRIFFITHS--these Riverwood FRIENDS both dealt with extended hospital stays battling COVID--at home for close to a week, we are all grateful to have them working through their recovery!!
