Summer is a special time in the Inland Northwest. It’s like 1987 again- kids on bikes, swimming pools full of laughter, and boats everywhere! Speaking of 1987...while our Founders were getting ready to open RMHC INW, I was celebrating my birthday in the outdoor caboose at McDonald’s (see photo to right). My closest 7 friends and I all got Happy Meals, they brought out a sheet cake with the Hamburglar and Grimace on it, and it was served by Ronald McDonald himself! I had no idea at that young age I would eventually get the opportunity to partner with McDonald’s so closely as part of RMHC INW!
I came to RMHC INW as the Development Director and dove right in. Now, I am honored to have moved into the position of Executive Director. RMHC INW is truly a remarkable organization that is doing front-line work taking care of families when they are most vulnerable. I hope that my moving into this position can help provide consistency, continuity, and support to our staff, our donors, our community partners, and most of all, our families. I encourage you to come and visit us and see for yourselves the operation and how we continue “Keeping Families Close.”
With the Fourth of July holiday upon us, we know our capacity will increase over the next few weeks. Unfortunately, the national average for childhood accidents during this time accounts for 30% of all ER visits. We are prepared for any increase in numbers, and, thanks to this community, we are here for those families as long as they need us.
To show your support, we hope you will consider joining our Show Your Stripes campaign sponsored by your local McDonald's Owner Operators #ShowYourStripesINW. This is an opportunity to show off your style through social media and join forces with RMHC INW to help raise funds and awareness for this incredible cause.
Happy Fourth of July! We are grateful for your support of RMHC INW.
