In Otter News, from National Wildlife Federation

The Northern sea otter is just one of the many endangered species the National Wildlife Federation is working to protect. Found along the coast of Washington, Alaska and Canada, the sea otter is one of the few mammals on Earth to use tools to hunt and feed. To keep from drifting apart while they snooze, sea otters often sleep holding paws. They are social animals, and gather in rafts (groups) ranging from a few dozen to a few hundred. They gorge on more than 100 different prey as part of their diets, and are considered keystone species in their ecosystems, because they have a great influence on their environments.
