January 2024
Dear Valued RMLD Customer,

I hope you're having a great start to 2024.

January brought severe weather to our service territory including the season's first significant snowstorm, which was accompanied by severe wind. During the January 7th storm, RMLD made 70 service calls for downed trees/limbs on wires and had 24 dispatches for area outages. Our crews worked tirelessly to restore power for customers with nearly all outages restored by that evening, and continued heavy wind led to continued response and restoration into the following day. Thank you to our customers who reported outages and downed trees, both of which are critical to our restoration efforts.

Read on to see this month's highlights.

With Thanks,
General Manager Greg Phipps and the RMLD Team

The Sun is Setting on Current Commercial Solar Rebate
RMLD is changing its solar rebate amount beginning on March 1, 2024.

The rebate amount will be changing from $1,200 per kilowatt to $600 per kilowatt. To qualify for our current rebate, customers must submit an initial application and signed customer contract no later than February 29, 2024.

RMLD introduced its $1,200 per kilowatt solar rebate in July 2021 following the conclusion of DOER's Municipal Light Plant Solar Rebate Program funding. Initially, both DOER and RMLD contributed $600 per kilowatt. Seeking to sustain solar momentum post-DOER funding and in hopes that the program would be renewed, RMLD temporarily doubled its contribution. Now, with enhanced state and federal incentives due to the Inflation Reduction Act, RMLD is returning to its original $600 per kilowatt rebate. The allocated funds will now be redirected to support other energy efficiency programs.
Save on Cordless Electric Snow Blowers
Did our recent snowstorm make you question your snow removal strategy? Work smarter, not harder with a cordless electric snow blower, which is a greener alternative to a traditional gas-powered model. RMLD customers are eligible for a $100 rebate on the purchase of a cordless electric snow blower as part of RMLD's Cordless Electric Yard Equipment Rebate Program.
Start the Year Off Right with an Energy Assessment
Did you know that RMLD offers a financial incentive to qualifying commercial, industrial, and municipal customers who conduct an energy audit of their business?
Qualifying customers are eligible for a rebate of up to one-half of the cost of an ASHRAE Level 1 or Level 2 energy audit. If the customer then implements energy efficiency measures recommended by the audit, they are eligible for a rebate of the remainder of the cost of the audit.
