We are looking forward to the RMRI meeting and field tour in the Upper South Platte priority landscape next week! As a reminder, a series of events, tours, and meetings will occur from Tuesday, September 26 to Thursday, September 28.


Day 1 discussions will focus on workforce capacity, implementation and social license. Day 2 field trip will explore projects in the Upper South Platte landscape.

Colorado Strategic Wildfire Action Program (COSWAP) Workforce Development Grant


Housed within Colorado's Department of Natural Resources, COSWAP supports wildfire risk reduction in Colorado with two grant programs: the Workforce Development Grant Program and the Landscape Resilience Investment Program. Applications for the Workforce Development Grant close: 

  • Conservation Corps grants (CYCA and independent): September 29, 2023
  • DOC SWIFT and Workforce Training grants: October 27, 2023

Colorado State Forest Service Forest Restoration and Wildfire Risk Mitigation (FRWRM) Grant


This program, administered by the Colorado State Forest Service, provides state support through competitive grant funds that encourage community-level actions across the state. The application deadline is October 18, 2023.

Restoration and Stewardship of Outdoor Resources and Environment (RESTORE) Colorado Program


The National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF) is soliciting proposals for the annual RESTORE Colorado Program. Grants will focus on the voluntary restoration, enhancement, and expansion of wildlife habitat throughout the state. The proposal due date is November 20, 2023.

Community Wildfire Defense Grant Program 


This program is intended to help at-risk local communities and Tribes, as well as plan for and reduce the risk of wildfire. Applications will be accepted until October 31, 2023.

Action, Implementation and Mitigation (AIM) Program


Coalitions and Collaboratives Inc. (COCO), a Colorado-based nonprofit, started the Action, Implementation and Mitigation (AIM) Program to accelerate fire adaptation concepts and reduce the risk from wildfire across the U.S. by increasing capacity and on-the-ground work. Last day to submit a Concept Paper is October 27, 2023.

State and Private Forestry Landscape Scale Restoration (LSR) Program


The State and Private Forestry Landscape Scale Restoration (LSR) competitive grant program funds collaborative, science-based restoration of priority rural forest landscapes, leverages public and private resources, and supports State Forest Action Plans. The application deadline is November 30, 2023.

Bureau of Reclamation WaterSMART Cooperative Watershed Management Program (CWMP) 


This Bureau of Reclamation program provides funding to watershed groups encouraging local solutions to address water management needs. First round of applications are due by December 5, 2023; second round of applications are due by September 3, 2024.

Inflation Reduction Act Forest Landowner Support  


This programming provides financial assistance grants for projects that support underserved and small-acreage forest landowner participation in emerging private markets for climate mitigation and forest resilience. Proposal budgets greater than or equal to $2 million and less than $25 million are due by October 21, 2023.

Wood Grants 


Through the Wood Innovations grant program and the Community Wood grant program, the Forest Service supports innovation in the wood products economy, expansion of wood energy markets, and promotes wood as a sustainable building material. Expect to see the call for proposals in mid- to late October 2023.
