A RECONCILING IN CHRIST SYNOD

Bishop Jim and Pastor Kim Gonia visited the Club Q memorial in Colorado Springs to pray and pay respects. Pictured are the flowers they brought to accompany the prayers of all of us in the Rocky Mountain Synod.

The note with the flowers says: Offered in loving memory of those who died at the shooting at Club Q, with prayers for all those injured and traumatized, and in love and respect for all members of the LGBTQIA+ community, with whom we stand.

FROM BISHOP JIM

A prayer of lament for the Club Q violence...

In the face of the heartbreaking shooting at Club Q in Colorado Springs, and lamenting the long history of violence against our LGBTQia+ siblings, we pray:

Christ our victim, whose beauty disfigured and whose body torn upon the cross; open wide your arms to embrace our tortured world, especially the victims who were injured and for the families mourn the deaths of those killed at Club Q in Colorado Springs, that we may not turn away our eyes, but abandon ourselves to your mercy.

Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Our longings continue for Advent hope...

During each day of Advent, beginning with "DAY 1" on November 27, you are invited to reflect on a word of the day for Advent and watch a video reflection from across the Rocky Mountain Synod. Visit the calendar each day of Advent at this easy-to-remember website link: rmselca.org/advent

We are grateful for Pastor Nic Leither of St. Mark, Aurora, CO, who organized and created this video calendar. You are encouraged to share the graphic, above, to assist in matching up the calendar dates with the day of Advent.
