Response to Intervention (RTI)

We have successfully finished our first cycle of RTI this week at RMS! This first cycle focused on math intervention based on student achievement data collected by classroom math teachers. Students who did not demonstrate mastery on a standard based checkpoint were given specialized instruction according to the student's needs and support.
Students who demonstrated mastery chose a class to work in for their personalized learning time (PLT).
Beginning next week, we will begin our second RTI cycle focusing on specific ELA standards.
Students have continued to spend time with their LEAD classes each Monday afternoon during the month of September. After building collaboration, we have adjusted our timeline for LEAD Team deployment to begin in January rather than second quarter. We will conduct a virtual LEAD Team expo during the second quarter for students to explore the different teams they have the option to join. This adjustment gives students and teachers time to build relationships with their current LEAD classes while also participating in LEAD challenges and reflection activities. The weekly activities provides students the opportunity to apply many of the leadership skills they have learned and time to work through class content as they prioritize their learning.
Free/Reduced Meal Applications
Although ALL STUDENT MEALS ARE FREE now through December or until funds run out, we encourage families to complete an application for free and reduced meals.  A new application must be completed each year.
Since we are unsure of when exactly the free meal program will expire, by completing the free and reduced meal application you can ensure that your student's meal benefits don't expire, if your family is eligible.
The current pandemic has impacted many Republic families in ways that may have changed their eligibility. Even if your family has not qualified for free or reduced price meals in the past, the only way to confirm your eligibility is to complete the application.
Please call 735-3753 with any questions.
