RMS Robin Tweetings Newsletter
Welcome to our 2020-21 School Year at RMS!
We've embarked on a wonderful beginning to our a new school year at Robbinsdale Middle School, and we're so glad you are here to experience it with us!
As a team, RMS staff is collaborating with each other, and YOU, to make DL+ a success for everyone. We have gotten so many great affirmations from students, staff, and our parents about how glad they are to be back in school. Classes that we've been visiting virtually are very engaging and students seem to be excited about learning.
I, along with our RMS staff, will continue working hard to educate, engage, and inspire your scholars, in partnership with you - regardless of whether we are in DL+, Hybrid Learning, or In Person Learning at RMS. We look forward to learning something new while sharing our joy in teaching with our students every day!
Please stay connected with us as partners in your student's education by reading the weekly emailed Parent Notes and reaching out to us via email or phone for any additional questions you may have.

Sincerely,
Shirrie T. Jackson
Principal
Robbinsdale Middle School

A Potential Shift on October 19

The August and September health data shows a downward trend in reported COVID-19 numbers. The data indicates that middle school students could potentially move to hybrid learning on Monday, Oct. 19. In hybrid learning, students rotate attendance so that some students learn in-person and others engage in distance learning. Specific student hybrid schedules will be shared in the next couple of weeks. Our district will continue to receive updated information from the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE), the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) and our regional team of health experts. The health and safety of our students and staff remains our top priority.

RMS Attendance Line: 763-504-4810
Distance Learning Student Attendance
1) Students must check in everyday at the beginning of their assigned class period.
2) Students may e-mail the teacher if the student is not able to connect to the internet for the day.
3) If a child is sick, parents call the Attendance Line at (763) 504-4810.
4) Attendance is important and unexcused absences will follow the Hennepin County “Be At School” truancy program.
5) An unexcused absence is noted if the child does not participate in the live sessions, homework or a call is not made to the sick line.

Immunizations start now
Most 7th graders will need the Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis) and meningitis shots for the start of 7th grade, or a notary signed conscientious exemption or medical exemption on file. BEFORE we return to in person learning you MUST have this completed.
This is required by MN Law!
Call the Health Office with questions at 763-504-4809.

The public is encouraged this fall to get the flu shot from their health care provider.
Enroll in the Basement
RMS students have a new place to hang out after school. The Basement is a place for those who love sports, art, games, or robots and computers. We’ll have space for you to finish your homework and space for you to test out your imagination, meet new people and trying new things.
Athletics Update
For the health and safety of our students, soccer and volleyball at Robbinsdale Middle School have been cancelled.
7th and 8th graders are encouraged to register for Fall Sports at Cooper High School. Practices have already begun.
